Well done 343

OG bungie.net guy here maybe nobody cares about my opinion idc i just wanna say thanks. If you guys are really gonna bring back the old art style and feel of halo that in itself has me excited enough just like way back in the day waiting for halo 2 and 3 to come out. i see a lot of new fans hating already but it looks like to me all the true old school halo fans are hyped for this.

I have no idea what you guys intend to do gameplay wise, as long as you keep the spirit of halo that you seem to have found with this trailer.

hypothetically speaking from a design standpoint, if halo was going to be evolved in its final state (true lore and spirit of halo) you would have to have an in depth tiered, conditioning and health system, tiered, custom melee system, tiered custom movement system and battle damage. basically you would have to make a game nobody has the ability to make. so im hoping you guys will just make a great game that stays true to the iconic franchise

if ur a true og halo fan you know what im talkin bout,

OG bullet points for real OG’s

*master chief died after halo 3 but its cool 343 gotta keep halo alive
*get rid of promoethians
*bring back flood

Well, I don’t think this attitude is a particularly positive one to have. I’m excited for the possible return of classic Halo, but that doesn’t mean we have to hate those who like the newer games, they’re fans too.

As for your bullet points.

  • Master Chief didn’t die in Halo 3. - Prometheans look to be taking a smaller roll in the next game. - There’s plenty of evidence to support the fact that we will be going to Zeta Halo in Infinite, which has a huge history with the Flood.

bungie killed off the chief at the end of halo 3. They knew the story that they were telling was done.

They were basically contractually obligated to keep him alive and keep the halo brand alive as it is now owned by microsoft.

This is what im talking about any true og fan knows this and can accept this reality

Srry for being rude im just being honest. The halo story is really over its done. It has a beggining middle and end it was great but its over. If 343 can keep it going without further butchering the franchise they should be praised.

Im just saying a lot of fans were crying over the chief true fans know halo is not just about the chief halo reach was great without him.

Halo 5 story didnt suck because lack of chief it sucked because it isnt halo. You dont need the master chief to be halo

“true OG fan” well, I consider myself a fan of halo and its quite clear that we see a planet similar to requiem at the end of H3 legendary ending, so you know, bungie didn’t kill chief.

they didnt literally kill him it was symbolic. i said they had to keep him alive as a business decision. bungie artistically implied that the master chief had died in halo 3 and his story was over. He already finished the fight. they only show him alive after you beat the game on legendary. you guys cant even fathom the chief being dead its hilarious

ok so i was wrong about the semantics of the cutscene, however it still plays only after the credits roll. and like i said, chief is stranded in deep space inside a ship thats been ripped in half. its poetic that he would give his life for the human race because that is who the chief is. ever since he was 6 years old his entire existence is nothing but sacrifice. thats why his death makes so much sense and is the most fitting way to end the original trilogy

I’m not sure what a “true OG fan” is, but I know Chief didn’t die in Halo 3. He entered cryo sleep after “finishing the fight.” This was done, not by Microsoft or 343i’s request, but for Bungie to wrap their story up in a poetic way. Master Chief woke up in a cryo pod at the beginning Halo: CE and went to sleep in a cryo pod at the end of Halo 3.

If you were actually a fan around during the Bungie days you would know this. Side note: many of us have been playing this game for almost two decades, but that doesn’t mean we have “insider knowledge” or a more important opinion than other fans of the franchise.

Also, the post-credit scene was available on all difficulties. Only the part with Requiem is Legendary content. It’s hard for us to fathom the Chief being dead because he never died. Simple as that.

Speaking of Halos 2 and 3, the only things I actually liked about Halo 3 was its storyline, the multiplayer ranking system and Custom games

Saying that you’re a true OG or acting as if you’re in the cool club due to knowing stuff that newer fans wouldn’t doesn’t really give you extra credibility and it potentially just makes others look at you in a bad light. I’ve also been with Halo since the beginning and while I’m excited for the different art direction, that’s about the extent of my excitement until the actual gameplay comes out.

Man, OP… you use the ‘‘True OG Fan’’ title way too much… I had to point that out.
-Been there since CE, day one myself… Doesn’t mean im more of a TRUE fan than those who hopped on when Halo 3 came out. Acting like you’re more special, isn’t gonna be putting you in a good light, nor your post.

As for Chief, well nobody knows what Bungie intended… It was open ended, without proper clarification as to what Chief’s fate would be. Microsoft already owned the Halo franchise at that point, so no doubt they had a planned something already post-Halo 3. As far as i remember, concept ideas for Halo 4 were already tossed back then in 2007, the release year of Halo 3 and the year 343 Industries were established. His fate was far from sealed, but for Bungie it was the end of their Master Chief story.

What is the meaning of “True OG Fan”?

I’ve always said in a long running franchise you need to cater to your core group that’s been there since the beginning and then bring in new fans. Not the other way around which H4/5 did. So far they’re doing that with Infinite at least in terms of visuals.

I don’t think they need to completely get rid of Prometheans, just make them more interesting and fun to fight. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with their actual existence.
