one game, just one game and boy did this game feel good. Every weapon requires skilled aim and now you have to swap weapons for certain situations. No longer is halo a one gun army and it feels good. i was on truth and got 2 head shots with the Br and lost to ar but that came down to the need to change weapons (so used to br no matter and you’re fine)
i’ve been wanting halo to have unique weapons that fill a certain role in combate for years and I love how the weapons work. They seem to have a niche for effectiveness and efficance unseen in any previous halo. Aim assist is reduced and let’s keep it that way. I like trying to get better with weapons not have the game do it for me.
the pros thus far
- no more ridiculous aim assist- weapons have distinctive roles- game feels like a skilled yet fun shooter
adjustments
my main ain pet hate is control layout why is melee not on the b button. All I want is default controls but with melee on b and thruster on rb.
I would rather this game without sprint always have always will but the way the game plays it is vastly better then halo 4.
343i I give you credit but please fix the controls b is always melee in halo!!!
yeah.
the more games I play, and get used to new abilities, the more I am liking this beta
Negatives thus far
kill cam
call outs
weapon markers on map for power weapons
Assault weapons need to be toned down. The game feels clunky with slow gun switched, slow sniper Rof, vibration and flinch.
I like how originally I thought people would find ways to abuse the new abilities, namely the spartan charge and ground pound, but after playing the beta I was pleasantly surprised with how balanced the new mechanics were. Spartan charge and ground pound take a serious non-cover commitment that if not used correctly can immediately take a situation out of your favor. I’ve seen a lot of players run at me full charge only to realize their shields were down so a simple headshot took care of the threat.
I do have some gripes about the ranking system though, it seems way too punishing for losses. For example, I could finish a game with me being the MVP for the winning team and earn 9-12 performance points to my rank. But the next game, I’ll have a relatively ok K/D but my team lost the game so I have as much as 24 points taken away from me. It seems a little unfair how loosing one game takes away 2-3 wins according to my true-skill rank.
Other than that, this beta is definitely a step up from Halo 4. I am thoroughly enjoying my time and I cannot wait for more content next week.

the kill cam should either be removed or made to show where they actually aimed and not the last second you died, but the last 5 (your respawning that long anyway) its annoying watching myself die to a guy who shot the wall a meter above my head…
call outs are great, almost no one talks in this game (-Yoinking!- party chat) so even if you’re the only person with a mic there’s still “some” teamwork going on
i think the markers should be there for initial spawns, but not the respawns.
Call outs are just white noise while I play I always sole play in halo and never really care what is happening across the way. My last game I got 19 kills to 7 deaths a few nice head shots with the sniper and I agree its fire rate is to slow. I’ve yet to try any of the new abilities except thrust and I’m always hitting it when I mean to melee, bloody b button not been melee. Arahhhh. But this game is working better then tmcc so I’m all happy for 3 weeks at least

I’ll be honest with you. I do not think this is a Halo 5 problem. The reason why it’s harder to aim compared to previous Halos, is because the Xbox One controller is smaller than the 360’s and thumbsticks have a smaller area of rotation, so it feels more sensitive making easier to over exaggerate your aim. It’s a learning curve.
