Well my friends today on march 31st bungie has shut down there file share system and anything relating to stats of the halo universe. I havent been exploring the waypoint forums that much but does anyone know about the future of the file share system in reach?
All Halo: Reach files will continue to be accessible in-game just as they are today, and we’ll be bringing Halo: Reach File Share access to the web version of Halo Waypoint this summer.

Meh, I pretty much stopped using Reach’s file system in general a year ago.
I do miss the stats though, looks like we won’t be getting any Halo 3 updates for a long while…
Glad I made a tribute picture to Bungie and got it on my fileshare before the lock. (inb4 lock! :P)

Not sure if you’ll be able to download them, but I think they’ll still be there.

-Yoink- Halo Reach, what about Halo 3/ODST fileshare? I really hope you consider bringing Halo 3 stats to this website, everything is in disarray. My friends are frustrated now that they can’t view their stats in-depth, Waypoint’s service record is garbage and clunky to navigate, how come the Perfection & Extermination medals haven’t made it. You waste time updating these -Yoink- playlists AKA Living Derp, Hostball, etc, while you leave playlists like Invasion to rot. Yes, I am getting rather impatient, I’ve had it up here up until now. Can’t even change your own Nameplates now, this is -Yoinking!- terrific.
You know, 343 only made this Jetpack change in Arena just so people can get off their backs, it took them this long for one ridiculous change, while they go off updating these FKING, POINTLESS PLAYLISTS EVERY FKING MONTH.
Yeah, go ahead, either delete this post or change it to your liking, I give up, I’m not sure whether I’m going to like Halo 4 or not, and don’t give me that “We hardly have any information, so your opinion is invalid” BS. All I wanna know is that will 343 have any interest in Halo 3 whatsoever? I just want one, simple f**king answer, that’s all. The reason why I’m in this foul mood is because I was dreading this day.

So… What happens to the forging communities until summer? I know Forge Hub kind of relies on Bungie’s fileshare and screenshot system, but those are both gone now.
Anyone have any suggestions to get screenshots onto the internet? I think we can make do with just having the map itself in our fileshares and giving people our XBL gamertags, but the screenshot thing has me stumped.

For files, you can still use tags in game, and search by tags, so if you make up a somewhat unique tag and tell people to use/search for it, you should still be okay there. Tags might be easier than some gamertags (especially people with numbers instead of letters, and lower/upper case “i” and “L” and “|” craziness, doing things like: |1ilI|)
But yeah, the lack of screenshots on the web sucks. Seems like you’d need to use a capture card to grab pictures. Unfortunately that’s not a feasible fix for everybody. Maybe communities that need to use new screenshots will have at least 1 dude with capture card powers who can download the screenshot from somebody else’s fileshare and then capture it. Which is a stupid amount of steps compared to taking the screenshot in game and going to bungie.net and it’s there and ready; but might be slightly possible for some people if “summer” ends up being at the autumn equinox.

But I have no idea for how long. They answered a few lingering questions on the second news thing down on this page: http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=32070 So between that and some of the slightly recent bulletins, a few questions should be answered.

I’m going to miss Halo 3 on b.net. I’m banned from fileshare, and bungie’s fileshare ban sucked. You could still upload files from the website.

Can you people stop do everthing to destroy Halo!!! Anniversary map pack was mostly crap because you added random maps YOU guys wanted instead of the original from Halo 1 and also Halo 4 is NOT halo! You can’t just go around changing everything that makes halo halo, try asking what the players want instead of only you!
Halo Waypoint i think is bad because it doesn’t do everything like what Bungie.net did like show every medal, import film clips from Halo and even share images

yeah thats the thing for me. I don’t care about stats or files for Reach. Just want my Halo 3 stuff.
Well, I was doing a Halo comic and about to get Bungie pro for a video, but I guess I can’t now.
I searched ages here and never found a thing.
