Idk how this slipped past 343, but damn. 3 Yap Yap players ran over to my base with like 12 Cannon Fodder at about the 1:30 mark. Slowly but surely, those 12 Cannon Fodder turned into 30 and then those 30 turned into 40 with 9 Goblins on my base. My allies we’re putting everything they had into stopping it, but the rush was way too strong. Then all 3 of them dropped Shade Turrets around my base which stopped the turrets from doing anything (even though Banished Turrets are buttcheeks so it didn’t matter anyway)which was followed by 3 Methane Wagon drops.
One of my allies was helping with a hero and Marines and the other was bringing Flamethrowers, but nah…-Yoink- still didn’t work. I was bringing in Suicide Grunts but that didn’t even work😕.
A team of 3 did this to my friends and I last night. I didn’t find it particularly too difficult to combat. A mistake I’ve noticed a lot of people make is they target Cannon Fodder. Stop it. Their DPS is negligible. Focus down those Goblins (which are also fairly weak) and then mop up the fodder.

In particular, if you are UNSC, get a barracks as soon as possible and get some hellbringers out. The enemy had a dozen or 15 fodder on my barracks when this rush happened and I was still able to build it and got 4 hellbringers out before they could kill it. Meanwhile, if you have marines coming out of your main and hopefully your allies helping, you can focus fire the goblins and methane wagons. It’s an obnoxious rush to deal with but if you keep your units together and focus non-fodder units like viper mentioned, you should be good! A couple hellbringers make fodder negligible.
Reminds me of the times in Dawn of War Firestorm over Kaurava when I would infuriate my foes with Imperial Guard Conscript squads with attached Priests. Dirt cheap blobs of 30 troops a piece tying their forces up in melee so my tanks could cut their bases to ribbons.
Thus is the precise reason for the existence of cannon fodder, cheap, expendable distraction and harassment.
Moral of the story is ignore the small fries and hit those Goblins and -Yoink!- Wagons first, mop up after.
I believe it takes 15 Cannon Fodder to equal a single Grunt Squad in damage output. Focus on the Goblins first, the Cannon Fodder will fall like a stack of cards.

This is the second time I see this. I know cannon fodder are meant to be extremely weak but that seems a bit much. Anyone got a source?

It’s not true. I had an Elite Grunt Squad 1v1 with a single Cannon Fodder squad and the fodder knocked 1/4 of my grunts health down.

Chances are my source is the other guy.
There is a small chance. Or a large chance. Or a very large chance.
Nah, But if they all get and upgrade “Please Don’t Shoot Me!!” It will go late game and is very annoying, Got into a one hour match as Kisano because I recently picked her up because I had every leader but her, My opinion? She sucks…But she’s so fun to me. We won though only because they killed all my bases but I had enough supplies to build up and get Double Red Line Scorpions run over their infantry, While my friend went Condor and the other dude went Scarab.

That seems more like it. A 4-to-1 ratio means it’d take a full 80 pop to equal 10 regular squads. Their spammability would even that out. Still, a Really Good Gaming or HW2 Myth Busters video on this would be great right about now lol
Thought this might be related, then again maybe not, but just today me and my friends did a really dumb Custom match together. Me and my friend trained max population Cannon Fodder (that’s a total of 120 squads of Fodder) and we both researched all three tiers of the global Infantry upgrade at our Raid Camp, and all of the Cannon
Fodder upgrades. Our other friend had an Atriox’s Chosen that was fully upgraded.
Our 120 Cannon Fodder met the Chosen at a secluded location on the map away from everything else, and we both ordered ALL 120 to attack the single Chosen. None of us used any leader powers, and his Chosen was standing still throughout the whole engagement, and you know what happened? Our Cannon Fodder formed a ring around him and started clawing like crazy, but within seconds he murdered all of our Grunts before his Shields could even go down. Just thought y’all may need a rough gauge to see how combat-effective (or in this case, ineffective) the Cannon Fodder really are.
The issue with cannon fodder isn’t the damage, but the sheer number of them, units cannot focus. Also does anyone else think that methane bomb drop is too powerful? I versed 2 Yapyaps and that ability usually wiped most of my army of locust, wraiths, hunters, reavers, you get the idea and then methane tanks the crap of of them, its hard to mange 2 at once, but 3. Eradication was useless against them.

Well, Atriox can’t be the only one with army-wiping abilities. All final leader-wheel active powers should be able to wipe out armies with a massive price and cooldown. Kinsano’s inferno should be buffed IMO.

I agree with the Kinsano thing, but I think Eradication was nerfed a while back, I agree that it shouldn’t kill a base in basically one shot like it did at launch, but it is not good at enemy wiping, it gets some to red and anothers to yellow, maybe killing some, Methane obliterated my armies, I should know as a versed 2 Yapyaps, Eradication did very little in helping in the loosing 75 minute stalemate I was in.
Also, I don’t know if its just me getting messed up since it was two of them, but it was used a lot. Do the finals have the same price/cooldown?

I also agree with the kinsano inferno being buffed. I also think eradications beam speed should be increased a bit, especially since powers like methane party are instant and very powerful. They can either buff the other leader powers (Cutters CaS, others) to match methane party, or make it more escapable like carpet bomb or eradication. Cost matching all the others or balanced to where it should be of course.
