Took me a bit, but I finally found how you fix this:
Go to your profile → preferences and then to the Interface section in the menu on the right hand side. On that setting page you’ll see the checkbox for “Automatically unpin topics when I reach the bottom.” - make sure to uncheck it.
Then, and this is the slightly annoying part, you’ll need to go to each pinned topic that has been automatically unpinned and re-pin it again. That’s down at the bottom of the topic in a dropdown, something like this

would like to see a post on all the new badges and how to earn them
@stckrboy Thank you for that. I was hoping there was an option to disable that but I couldn’t find it.
Also, you can pin/unpin a topic by just clicking the pin icon next to the thread. It’s easier than going into each individual thread.

I noticed this in a different thread and I don’t like that. It’s good that members can report posts, but it shouldn’t hide the post because it may not actually break the rules and now that person’s opinion is being punished by being hidden for several hours by default until a mod reviews it. The mods should be the only ones who determine if a post should be hidden or not.

There exist a user setting which causes pinned threads to remain pinned. However, the default option is that pinned threads will become unpinned after you have read it.
I don’t like that but thanks for heads up
