It’s 343’s attempt to include a helmet like sharkface’s ODST variant (why don’t they just use that one instead?)
my favorites in terms of bad look are nightfall and breaker. Completely ugly.
About the sharkface fake, maybe it looks better from another angle but I think it’s definitely one of the worst.

The only way I can see this helmet being used is if that black part of the helmet is the visor.

It’s got me all worried that we’re going to have a bunch of Halo 4-esque armor that just doesn’t seem to fit into the Haloverse.

Well, that particular ‘CHTHONIC’ helmet seems to have some sort of shark-face skin, and likely isn’t the standard variant of the helmet. It kinda looks like an EVA helmet with a scope of some kind attached to it. I doubt it’ll look so weird without the skin.
Also, EOD? THAT’S the weirdest helmet in Halo?
