Customization slot for customization slot, numbers wise.
Based on what I could find there’s about 15sextillion different customization combinations for MKV alone if I did my math right, and about 7sextillion for Reach in total. Minus text inputs.
Acquisition is not customization though, I know it’s common to conflate the two, but it’s not the same thing. Acquisition is not better in Infinite than it was in Reach.
Upgrade from Halo Reach’s model of customization is a welcome change, sadly it costs money for most of the good stuff.
Strange for a console game, but fitting for PC bois.
They wanted to make Armor Coatings more valuable, so you now always have them equippped.
VFX artists are on strike it would seem.
… … … … … … …what are you talking about? All the guns ADS still.
It exists, it has just been changed to soft-collision so you slide off of one another rather than get stopped by one another.
This was done so that use of thrusters and grapples doesn’t cause another player to be shoved on a new vector of direction.
However, this has broken melee combat and allows you to be back-slapped from the front.
Pandering to every other FPS game’s HUD instead of the one that works best (Halo’s HUD always had you looking at the corners of your screen, which helped you maintain situational awareness)
Also, the reticle is centered once again instead of the far more superior lowered reticle.
With the reticle lowered, I have more situational awareness as I can still aim down-range and see above me just fine. If anything it works best with Halo given the vertical combat scenarios we face often. Less of the screen is taken up by the floor and now we can be more aware of someone nearby.
PLUS it makes maps and locations feel less claustrophobic since now every location feels like an atrium.
Grenades were entirely reworked the wrong way so now you can chuck them instantly; which results in grenade-spamming like no other Halo game has ever seen.
Also Splash Damage is broken, combined with desync; and it results in every explosive weapon being underwhelming as every blast is like rolling a d20 in DnD and getting a random amount of hit-points each time.
Sadly the weapons sandbox is unbalanced for now.
BUT they are planning to update and support the game over the course of a decade. So HOPEFULLY we get some new and classic weapons. So far the leaks have shown a Covenant Carbine and a Brute rifle that likely shoots spikes.
Pandering to PC players or they are continuing to politically wash police from the games? Keep in mind, Halo 3 ODST got the unnecessary update of removing the police lights from the NMPD cars scattered around New Mombasa. Which honestly ruined the aesthetics as seeing emergency responder lights flashing and hearing their sirens in the distance added to the atmosphere of gloom and doom Halo 3 ODST had.
So they washed “S.W.A.T.” from their game because they dislike the police politics we have in the current day, and gave it the name of “Tactical Slayer” because it sounded fitting.
And now… for some of my own stuff.
Radar reduced to 18 meters rather than the standard 25.
Vehicles now handle awkwardly as if the tires are filled by helium and they have reworked how Scorpion mobility works.
We have a Fortnite style shop rather than the superior Ghost Recon Breakpoint shop styles (Erewhon Shop lets you buy cosmetics with currency you earn in game. There is another shop where you can buy select exclusive cosmetics with actual money.)
Beating the Campaign mode on Legendary just gives you a stance, NOT the Mark VI Gen-3 as an Armor Core.
Visor colors and armor coatings aren’t cross-core.
Bots are all Marine level and not ODST or Spartan level when someone leaves mid-match; resulting in you now having three good teammates and a 4-year-old noob against the enemy.
Cross-play is forced on us. PC players don’t want to play with Console players and Console players don’t want to play with PC players. The only modes we want to have crossplay in are Custom Games with our friends.
Server issues are heavy.
No map remakes at launch.
343 is under-staffed and has a lot of fixing to do.
This list and MANY others things others have mentioned are just the tip of the ice berg when it comes to how lackluster this game is, especially compared to previous titles (not Halo 5 yuck). 343 just doesn’t care about us or this series anymore and they need to step down 100%.
Soft-Collision now allows for players to slightly clip through the enemy. And since a melee-attack’s coordinates are determined by where your animation puts your character’s limbs that can now slightly clip through the enemy; you can now back-slap someone from the front if everything is timed right.
That is you either desyncing hard or you are striking a lag-ghost.
Basically you are desynced enough that your inputs are not registering at the right moments. So on your screen you melee attack and see the animation, while on their screen you are just pushing against them or melee-striking the air in front of them.
It happens on occasion with me. Usually when it happens, the enemy player teleports a few feet away as they finally open fire on me, revealing that I was striking a lag-ghost.
PC Optimization in Halo Infinite was a joke. It is apparently a common issue.
I play on Xbox Series X. It only happens on occasion… usually when I am fighting a PC player now that I think about it… or if I am playing with my friends in Australia.
I agree with your points, especially the plasma pistol…im guessing something to do with the new shock weapons, but they shouldn’t change the way an existing weapon functions as in past halos, either remove it or keep it as is. Its only good now for dropping shields
