I actually understand the change for SWAT, because it stands for special weapons and tactics, but the gamemode doesn’t use special weapons, but is relatively tactical the rest is either for money, or done by a fragmented team doing distance working, so things are really jank because the teams weren’t in the same building or working together as closely as they should or with enough oversight
Radar to me is the biggest change in gameplay. I honestly feel at a disadvantage based on how I utilize the radar in non competitive games. I truly just haven’t experienced it enough to full utilize it which sounds strange, but I just struggle when attempting to use it.
the buffed melee to where if you hit a full shielded spartan, it not only breaks shield, but also 40% or 50% of your health. I’ve said this before but everyone its been in previous games, but I’ve been playing since reach (and have 3 too) and I know this is a change and its driving me nuts.
If anything the reduced radar coddles those with tunnel vision. It was a learned skill to be able to watch the motion tracker and focus on your current fight so that you didn’t end up back smacked while fighting.
For one and only one reason. Dollar.
The radar was always useful when you didn’t feel like using your mic.
Now it’s not useful…
343 seems to be one of the few companies that likes to change things that aren’t broke. Then Microsoft’s upper management wonders why they can’t topple Call of Duty off their thrown.
Maybe because CoD doesn’t try and “fix” things that aren’t broken.
Either way doesn’t matter now. Since Microsoft couldn’t figure it out they just bought the studio.
It’s because they want halo to play more twitchy like call of duty. Little do they know, there’s a game that already plays like that and it’s called call of duty.
Exactly. I love COD, but Halo was always my favorite franchise by far. Probably played more 3 than all of COD combined. But Halo with COD features creates something that’s worse than both of them imo. Just let them each be great as their own. COD didn’t change a thing to be more like Halo.
also extra specific challenges that werent in mcc but are now her, we had do x objective now its “complete this laundry list of gamemodes you can never get”
The sniper doesn’t ricochet anymore, which removes so much character from the weapon and IMO the game overall, just an absolutely baffling change that no one asked for.
Armor customization itself is at/exceeding Reach’s levels in most cases.
Would you elaborate a little bit?
Honestly yeah. Every Halo game made by 343 so far has been different for some bizarre reason.
New IFF system accomplishes the same as the old with the exception of default coloration changes. Probably a bit easier for map loads too.
Got any specifics? I personally have most of them disabled for performance reasons.
Honestly haven’t noticed, but that is a bit weird.
A strange choice, but one that I think has to do with some of the map designs.
I don’t think there’s been a fully standard hud design in a minute for Halo.
I feel like this has to do with movement, I’ve noticed some grenades go way off course where they needed to be and I intended them to go.
Balancing reasons I’d imagine. What specifically?
Official reason: because of the connotation of the action of “Swatting”.
yeah theres this other weird little thing they changed, its something halo ce through reach had. its something called bein a good game
343 really sat down and had a meeting, decided to take everything we love about Halo, throw it in the trash, and take everything we hate about modern games, and throw them into Halo. Wild.
I just checked out the Rocket Launcher!! He’s RIGHT!!! NO DAMN ZOOM ON ROCKET LAUNCHER!!!
WTF IS THAT ALL ABOUT??? REALLY???
No.1 for me would be why change from a $60 boxed product to a F2P cash grab.
I mean really I know why, but I still don’t understand it. If you make a GOOD enough game people WILL want to buy it.
The PS games on PC are listed for their normal asking price of $50-$60 despite being a few years old and people STILL buy them because they’re actually GOOD games.
You forgot that horrible scope glow that really limits the effectiveness of ranged weapons
Wow I didn’t even notice that. Another reason why this isn’t a Halo game
I totally agree. Halo needs to focus on being halo. If they try to be like everyone else they’re going to fail because every other game is better at what they do. Hopefully halo 7 will go back to what made halo great.
EXCEEDING REACH LEVELS?!??!?!??!? AHHAHAHHAHHAH! Not sure what part of Reach contained a store that had even the most basic armor colors pffffffft.
