Weird Halo 3 Nudge Betrayal Exploit

Some guy just kicked the entire team minus myself and himself by nudging into them (as in, walking, taking no damage whatsoever) and jumping off a cliff.

So:

>Slight walk/nudge

>Cliff jump

>”You betrayed X!”

>le boot.

Why? How? What do I do?

This is due to the death zones in the game and how they operate.

Normally when you go into one of the these “death zones” which is typically out of the map, or on the verge of getting out of the map, you get “Killed by the Guardians”. The game checks for any collision or damage received prior to dying to figure out how you died - which is where it all stems from. For example, if you shot a fusion coil and that made a cone fly towards me at a high velocity and killed me, and we were on the same team, then it would say you betrayed me because you are the one who made the fusion coil blow. It can be exploited by bumping into a teammate and going to the zone on the map without being shot/bumped by anyone else.

There’s not much you can do besides trying not to bump into that player. Chances are they will be shot by someone else if you are in a combat scenario. Most people only use this tactic to expel a de-ranker from the game, but sometimes de-rankers use it as well.

The fix for this is pretty simple, and that’s simply by forcing the game to not allow a betrayal to impact the player if the death is caused by an unknown force.

Derankers realize that Team Socials won’t allow for skill point loss, right?

it’s a glitch that exists in halo 3, you can do that in several maps.
