I was playing social slayer on boundless yesterday, and I had just killed someone and then this guy with overshields and a beam rifle comes charging around the corner. I jumped over him and meleed his head to bring him to normal shields, but to my surprise he died right there and I got an assassination medal. I was shocked that a melee from the top actually gave me an assassination. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just lag or something?
It makes sense. If he was running towards you and you jumped over him, it likely registered the melee hit on the back of the head or the shoulders.
The game was weird with assassinations. One shoulder was an assassination and the other shoulder was not.
This situation is pretty normal I’d say.
Yeah this is a common occurrence in Halo 3. Overshield or not, a melee to the top of the head counts as an assassination.
