Prior to 11:30 PM EST, my gameplay is on par with everyone else. Afterwards, everything goes downhill - my shots all seem to miss or I’m shooting marshmallows; their speeds seem to be faster and always feels like they’re killing me with 2 or 3 shots. I feel like I can’t turn fast enough, and I’ve noticed a few times that I still got shot and killed even after I’ve turned a corner and got behind cover. My theory is that the people on the West Coast have the advantage because they’re closer to the game servers than I am here on Long Island, and my lag shows me something different than what’s on their screens.
So, let’s take a survey: if anyone on this forum is from the East Coast (NYC, Long Island, Maine, Connecticut, etc.), let me know if you notice the same thing. Even though I have FiOS with a 58 Mbps download and 59 Mbps upload speed, with a 79ms latency, I still feel like gameplay is slower for me at that time. Anybody else?
As a night owl myself, it’s obvious that way more Lag happens when you are playing against people significantly outside your time zone. Essentially playing after 1 to 2 AM EST or later is a recipe for west coast players to pick you apart with ease.
Yeah def am curious to know how much difference lag makes with servers at later times. Def notice pistol shots that are normally kills during day time not killing the enemy in night, and I am east coast.
There’s just no consistency with gameplay. One game I’m hitting everything I’m aiming at, and in the next I can’t hit squat. Also feels like I’m moving at different speeds between different maps.

Exhaustion might have something to do with it as well. Playing at night means your body isn’t fully awake, even if you FEEL awake. Your reflexes are slowed.
This is happening across all of Halo 5 players. There are a lot of forms on this since the last update was applied. Yesterday I played several games and became very frustrated when I was directly over a person and shooting them in the head on break out and nothing happened. I decided to then spectate a few games to see if other players were having some of the same problems and they were. And then went back to my theater and watched my own gameplay and it seems I can be shot through walls. And when I was sure I was aiming correctly my bullets we’re not even close to my target. This has appeared to be random though.
There is definitely a ghost effect going on in the system and it seems again to be random. When I say ghost, I also have had people appear and disappear in front of me. I will have super great games and then I will feel as though my controller is broken.
In a lot of forms they suggest changing my look sensitive down and my look acceleration down. Also changing my dead zone settings and seeing if that helps. All of this is to slow down my aiming and movement and we’ll see if that helps today. But nothing is changing the fact that I aim at someone and shoot them in the head and they seem to be bullett proof.
My upload speed and my download speed are slightly higher than the ones mentioned above and I still have the same problems. My accuracy numbers have gone way down because of this. Also I was ranked high platinum in the middle of February in all events and now after trying to rank in march they all gold one.
I know it’s just a game but it would be nice to be able to play at the skill level I think I am and to receive the ranking I deserve, but it doesn’t always work out the way I want.
Oh and whiskey is better then beer during gameplay!
