Hello everyone,
it’s been almost 3 whole weeks now, since I was last able to play any online matches on Halo:MCC for Steam. At first it was only a matter of connecting to the matchmaking servers. Whenever I would hit the green “Let’s play!” button, it would instantly put me into the main menu with the bottom right of my screen displaying “Offline - Season 0”. I remember that the transition from the sign in window to the main menu, would take a few seconds when it still worked.
In order to fix this issue I’ve tried numerous supposed fixes some of which included:
- restarting the game/pc/router
- updating Windows 10
- signing out and back into my account
- ipconfig/flushdns
- setting a static IP and DNS servers
- forwarding all the neccessary ports for Halo:MCC Steam
- clearing the AppData folder for MCC
- verifying game files
- reinstalling Halo:MCC
- reaching out to XBL support, who hit a dead end essentially telling me that there is nothing they can do for me and from their side everything should be working
- submitting a ticket to Halo Support, who haven’t replied in 18 days
None of the above did anything at all as far as I’m concerned. But there is a new bug now whenever I first open up MCC after starting my PC. Now, whenever I first hit the green “Let’s play!” button, the game will freeze, leaving me having to force close it through the task manager. I don’t know if that’s relevant to my initiall problem, but after booting up MCC again I’m back to the connection issues I’ve been experiencing.
A friend of mine said they used to have a seemingly similar issue back on Xbox 360, where the problem was with his internet provider, which he ended up having to contact to basically unlock Halo for online play. This sounds very strange to me, since I had no issues with Halo or online play in general prior to the issue at hand. I guess my question here is, how likely do ya’ll think it is for me to resolve this by contacting my internet provider.
All in all, I’m pretty bummed out not being able to play during lockdown. It really took my mind off of things, and no other game quite does that for me, the way a good multiplayer sesh of Halo with the boys does.
Sorry for the long post, but it seems to be rather complex given that I have’t been able to resolve this in weeks whilst trying to almost every day.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to read all of this, and an even bigger one to anyone who can actually solve this for me.

Did you try the Xbox Networking tool in windows settings? Press the windows key and search for it run the test and press fix it button and try again. Wrote your results here of your tests when you run the tool
So I ran the test with the following results.
Internet connection: Connected
XBL services: Up and running
Latency: 182 ms
Packet loss: %
NAT Type: Teredo is unable to qualify. This could block you from playing multiplayer games.
I tried to “Fix it” but after doing so and restarting my pc it’s still like that. I’ll look into it further and keep you updated. I think you gave me a great lead, thank you!
So I worked through the support page for this Teredo error. Unfrotunately, it still doesn’t work…
The Xbox Networking page now says “NAT Type Moderate” by the way.
