Weight estimation of the UNSC Infinity.

To give you guys an Idea of the scale of the Infinity I have worked up what I believe to be a pretty accurate guess on what her weight range would be.

After calculating her over all perimeter, volume, armour thickness, and assuming that Titanium-A3 armour is about 1/4 the weight of steel, then adding about 1/3rd to account for her insides I have come up with this.

130,000,000 short tons, yes that is one hundred thirty million, now to put this into retrospective.

The largest battleship ever built weighed about 72,000 tons
The largest Super tanker fully loaded with oil weighs about 664,000 tons and with out it is 264,000 tons.

This is about 20x heavier than the largest ship ever built when full of oil.

Crazy right?

i for one, appreciate posts like this.

that is a ridiculous amount.

infinty= 1 metric -Yoink- ton

That is pretty insane! Calculating that must’ve taken plenty of thought and research. It’d be interesting to know the measurements for some of the other enormous things in the Halo universe. Quality post!

chuck norris can’t lift it, that’s how heavy it is.

Hahaha this post made my day among all of the complaining

Glad some duders are interested.

So how is that even possible to launch from a planet?

Let alone turn, Evading enemy fire must suck, but then again,Its somassive it can take it like a champ

Nice post dude, and good work on the numbers and figures!

All I can say is this:

Bricks.Were.Yoinked!

It was built at an orbital shipyard, will never land (except by force on Reqium).

And it has so many defences that when Sangheili fire at it, the missles don’t even get anywhere near it in The Thursday War. Its epic.

They can create slipspace portals through space and time, I think we can give them the benefit of the doubt, haha.

117,000,000 tonnes :stuck_out_tongue:

The way the ship ripped through that Covie cruiser in the first Spartan Ops episode makes me think that figure is way off. The sheer density of the armour needed to tear through the other ship and not have any damage to infinity makes me think of some sort of super-dense materiel.

If that was the case even a thin wall of the stuff would weigh tons. But even destroyers have 2 metres of the stuff. What the hell would Infinity have to crash into a planet and then pick herself up with hardly any damage whatsoever.

Not even close.

If a single halo armour is a ton then this ships atleast 50x more than that!

Great post! Whether the figure is within range or not, the Infinity is one beast ship!

The military tech in Halo 4 is actually one of the more interesting parts.

More UNSC Infinity facts:

The Infinity’s hull is made of 4.9 meters (16 feet) of Titanium A3 armor plating. The Infinity is also the first UNSC craft to have Covenant-style energy shielding.

The Infinity is 5.6km (3.5 miles) long, making it the largest ever UNSC craft, but still significantly shorter than the 29km Covenant Supercarrier that was destroyed by Jorge at Reach.

The Infinity carries ten Frigates - presumably these are used as landing craft.

The total crew numbers 17,151: 8,954 Naval staff, 6.021 Marines, 1,699 Intelligence staff and 477 civilians. Its passengers include Spartan IVs, ODST troopers, and UNSC Marines, Army and Air Force.

The Infinity was covertly constructed in the Oort Cloud at the very end of the Sol System in 2537, initially intended to be a last resort and base of operations should Earth be conquered or destroyed by the Covenant. Commissioned by ONI (but known to a few high-ranking UNSC officials, since it was constructed with UNSC funds) the Infinity was partly built with Hugark (Engineer) assistance and makes use of reverse-engineered Forerunner technology, particularly slipspace navigation and communication.

The Infinity has four MAC guns, 350 Archer missile pods, 250 Rapier missile pods, 500 Howler missile pods, and 830 point defence turrets.

The Infinity’s crew roster includes Master Sergeant Stacker, who has been present in every major conflict from Reach onwards - making him even more of a natural survivor than Sergeant Johnson (and equal with ODST Sergeant Buck, depending on whether he’s still alive in the Halo 4 timeline).

Covenant for an alien race sure has some crap ships

I mean, Master Chief managed to save his fall by stabbing it and climbing aboard

Must of been one hell of a sharp knife

Miracle Blade or something

How much does High Charity weigh?

I didn’t know weight existed in space…

Interesting… I remember Halo Waypoint posted a diagram just comparing it to the Forward Unto Dawn, but this really puts things into perspective o.O

Now here’s a question:

If Master Chief is carrying 4 rockets and 1 Battle Rifle while traveling at a velocity of 25m/s; calculate the mass of Requiem.

Well aside from the blade being sharp you also have to remember Chiefs Spartan II strength.

P.S. Thank you for a post that isn’t complaining.
