You guys have to go into the TV show only expecting to see familiar things, not word for word or paste and copied details from the games or books. The TV show is also not 343’s work… so try not to project your anger from 343 onto the studio working on the Silver Timeline.
Look at ANY other movie or TV adaptation like The Witcher, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Cowboy Bebop, the Marvel Universe, etc… they HAVE too change things to adjust it to the new source. TV/Movies are a completely different ball game compared to video games or books, because games and books can pack tons of information that a TV show or Movie would take several sequels or multiple episodes in a season to accurately envision it.
i get that they have to change crap, doesnt mean ill like the changes

That’s fair, you don’t have to like it.
But at least give it a fair shot instead of shooting it down before it even has a chance to explain itself.
never said the show was bad, all im sayin is that the trailer was bad and that i think the shows probably gonna suck too
I don’t expect the Halo show to be a massive success, but at least have an open mind. Going into anything with such a closed mind automatically makes you more difficult to satisfy. The Silver Timeline could be a much better story than what 343 has been writing so far and I am certainly interested to see what the plot is about. Then I will make my judgements about the show.
I personally thought the trailer was fine for a Halo TV show especially since I already knew it wasn’t going to be an exact replica of Halo video games/books by reading the Silver Debrief. It wasn’t a perfect copy and pasted video game experience, but it didn’t seem to confuse the people who were watching the NFL game with me when the commercial aired at half time. And they don’t even play Halo.
You’re literally just adding to the mess, lol.
“I think this is dumb but I’m going to do it anyway and not care about it,”
ahh yes, ignorance at it’s finest.
i literally didnt even complain about people makin threads here once lmao
It wouldn’t, but it wouldn’t stop someone from making one, which is a much easier way to get weapons under the nose of security.
I would think that in the 500 years between now and then there would be other weapon blueprints that might be easier to follow. There really is just absolutely no logical reason for there to be an AK or a Chevy Tahoe in the trailer, other than saving money on production.
If it’s a choice for design aesthetic, that’s even worse.
I mean, depending on the writing in the show… it is not outside the realm of possibility this is on a planet that isn’t as advanced as Earth or other planets more heavily occupied by the UNSC. The UNSC could even be exploiting this colony for resources and purposely keeping them poor or using it as an outpost world to ready for any possible attacks.
Look at First world countries, flat screens in every home, cellphones in a 8 year old’s hands, updated cars of that year. There are parts of the world that don’t get those products until a certain amount of time has passed that makes it more easily distributable.
Now I do agree, maybe 500 years is too long to not upgrade at some point, but if it’s on a different planet, it isn’t entirely impossible to have the locals rely on less advanced technology.
Right, but do you see how backwards that logic becomes when you realize that the UEG was a part of the colonization of most of these planets?
Any way you cut it, it just isn’t logical to think that in 2552 an AK would be cheaper than other newer surplus weapons. One could safely assume that current models of AKs wont be produced for the next 500 years, and therefore if they still existed they would be collectors items. It just doesn’t make any sense in universe.
I’m curious if you have any explanation for the 2001 Chevy Tahoe?

I honestly didn’t really care for the trailer, but I’m biased since I’m not a huge fan of adapting most things into a television/live-action format, at least not without tons of passion and care for the source material.

Once again, it depends on the writing done in the Silver Timeline, which is something separate from the timeline in the video games and books. Literally every other piece of ‘video game to TV/film or book to TV/film’ adaptation has diverged from the original source to make it more adaptable for TV/film. This is Halo in a different universe… do you like Marvel? Or sci fi tropes? Pretend this is just another alternate reality with changes here and there like Marvel’s show What If?
I’m sort of doubtful that this Silver Timeline will drastically alter the years, my guess is that it will still be 2500 but I can’t know for sure.
I personally have enjoyed one or two marvel movies (the original Iron Man is the only one coming to mind,) but otherwise really dislike the MCU, I find it bloated, illogical, and cheesy. I’ve always enjoyed Halo for being not like that. It is a single clean timeline and up until Halo 4 it had an amazing, unified art direction.
This TV show certainly looks to be more in the marvel direction, with hyper focus on Chief as a superhero. IMO that is a huge part of what 343 did wrong with Halo 4/5/Infinite. They claimed to be making Chief a more human character and to be telling a more human story, while also hyping him up more and more and doing the hero worship thing.
I really do think that the more gritty and serious parts of the Halo universe are the best of it, and would have fit the silver screen much better. I would have been so happy to have something like Landfall or We are ODST over the direction they’ve taken it.
I’m sad this is the way they’re going, but honestly am glad that you’re enjoying it. I hope that someday this franchise is big enough to have a bit for everyone. Did you see Greyhound? Would love to see something that gritty, intense, and down to earth, but set in a Halberd Destroyer wolf pack in the Halo universe.
I’m not saying they will alter the time period, I’m saying it will be an alternate reality. Like for instance, if somehow the Halo universe could come into existence in our universe(with Chevy Tahoes, AK-47s) if we could reach the year 2550.
And it’s not about enjoying it dude. You’re still not understanding what I’m saying. I respect art in all of its forms, and if they want to tell a Halo themed story like a Fan fiction brought to life, then I want to check it out… at least give it a shot.
I think a lot of people are letting 343’s handling of Infinite get in the way here. These people could possibly have something worth watching and a lot of folks are writing it off before it even has a chance lol.
But that’s fine, I mean if it’s good, you guys missed out, if it’s bad, life goes on as usual.
I’m certainly open to plenty of new forms of art, but as someone in the business I also have my standards. For example, I loved the Netflix Marvel shows because of their writing and production values, they made me enjoy a universe that I wasn’t normally a fan of (shame that they are all canceled now by Disney.)
This universe is close to my heart so that Silver Timeline definitely diminished my interest, but I wouldn’t write it off solely based on that. The writing was terrible (which reflects on the show and not just the trailer,) the music choice was atrocious (which does reflect more on the sound designer for the trailer than for the show, but certainly indicates the vibe of the production,) and the prop design was weak at best. Throw in some woefully out of place stuff and it’s clear to me that it wont be the Halo show that I’ve been craving for 20 years.
Will I subscribe to Paramount to watch it? No way. If I can do a free trial and watch it all in a week will I do it? Probably. I’ll just look at it like the Star Wars sequels… they’re absolutely terrible, garbage movies, but they’ll have some nice high resolution CGI of cool space ships.
I have yet to see a Halo show that is good. Maybe this is it, not holding my breath tho.
