I really think weekly’s should restet earlier in the day. Like 2 hours earlier.

I assume it’s because they are PST and someone will have to oversee it. Doesn’t make sense for them to be at the office at 5/6am.
Oversee an automation? Lol.
If anything goes wrong it’s a big deal, so I assume yeah they’d want someone keeping an eye on it as a safety net.

With that argument the game should be shut down everyday and only run between 9-5 O.o
For like game breaking stuff like server maintenance they’ll either have someone on call or more likely an outsourced 24 hour operation to get things back online asap.
Guess it is just a case of why create more work/outsource when you dont need to. Especially if they need some last minute tweaks, you’d want the right people on it.
I’m not trying to be argumentative, just giving my 2 cents of why I think the times are where they are and why I think they’d be unlikely to change.
And I am being argumentative because that’s really not a good reason. Your development shouldn’t be (and likely isn’t) so fragile that letting an automated task run needs human oversight. Your argument makes sense for pushing updates… but not for a simple timer resetting.
It is basic risk appetite.
There is no more risk than the hundreds of other automations that take place in off-hours. Stop ignoring this crucial point.
There is no company on this planet that would automate key tasks out of hours unless they absolutely have to.
That was a whole lot of typing for you to resort to such a lazy argument. Key tasks are automated all the time in major industries. A timer resetting doesn’t need human over-sight. There are many arguments you could make, but it being “A key task needing over-sight” isn’t a good one. Especially for the reasoning in which you used to qualify it as a “key task”.
