Weekly rewards and free event unlocks should be added to Battle Passes

Well, how can you call that item free to begin with if it ends up with a price tag later?

That would be called false advertising.

While I disagree with all forms of FOMO, I don’t want them to trivialize the effort that players put into earning weekly challenge rewards during Season 1.

While some people may be a bit upset that they missed out on specific items, motivation to continue playing among the crowd who did earn many of the rewards will completely tank. Not something this game can afford right now.

Instead, they simply need to revamp the entire challenge system in future seasons to align more closely with MCC’s seasonal challenges.

According to you, they would just be added onto the next event, like Overwatch

And we’ve had Tac Ops, Fracture: Tenrai and Cyber Showdown, nice try at ignoring them

I agree with this one. Add all the FOMO crap to the last season pass when the new season comes around, this way the grinders can have their shiny skins exclusively for a few months and after that, everybody is happy.

Works in MCC too doesn’t it?

Edit: There are no challenges in the game. They are just mind numbing tasks that are hazardous to the games health. Maybe a token system like in MCC would be better suited to separate the PvE/PvP crowd.

This is a hornets nest 343 should’ve seen coming a mile off. They’re going to recycle/repurpose/repackage assets, that’s all but a certainty. They haven’t communicated well enough to either side of this issue what to honestly expect going forwards.

If you grind all week to earn a nifty reward, can you be reasonably reassured that others will have to go to similar lengths to achieve it? Conversely, If you don’t have time or couldn’t complete your weeklies and capstone, are you SOL? Neither of these questions has been addressed to anyone’s satisfaction. I think 343i is keeping their options open and will sell old weekly rewards and event items in the shop and/or reintegrate them into new rewards or event passes as soon as some arbitrary amount of time has passed.

Whatever the plan is, they should really just come out and make it clear. There’s been way too much ambiguity around this through all of Season 1.

I agree, it would be great to know what the plan is for these assets.

Sounds like having us earn a weekly token, that can go toward any current or previous weekly reward would be cool! @TruncateComb6

We can have the free event tracks added to the free side of the battle pass, and have the same requirements to unlock? After the season is over.

I think the main thing is a catalogue of unlocks should be added to the game in some capacity, instead of just disappearing. Just like adding a new game mode to the playlist with events, the content should stay in some way that is fair for everyone.

How about, event passes are added onto the end of seasonal passes when a new season comes along.
This is actually going to take longer to unlock since during the event, you only had to complete 1 challenge per level.
With the BP, you need to complete multiple challenges for 1 level.

And then for the weeklies, they have their own separate BPs for seasons that you can swap between like normal seasonal BPs.
Each level costs a certain amount of XP and each week adds a new level.
When a new season starts, a new BP starts that you can progress down.
These are free and never expire

It respects the “grind” of the players who got it earlier, while also giving other players the chance to catch up

I really like this, bringing the previous seasons free event unlocks and adding to the next BP or separate event pass that becomes permanent in the following season.

The game needs to be more catered towards the casual community. Coming from someone who did all the challenges in S1, it’s such a slog and a pain and it doesn’t need to be. Bring the weekly rewards back the following season. It’s just cosemetics, remove the aspect of FOMO from the weeklys and the seasons.

This is the mindset, for the health of the player base and the longevity of the game. You need to have the casuals otherwise it will just be a small pool of seasoned players playing in the sandbox alone until the bitter end of the games life. I’m looking at you Halo 5
 lol.

If I understand the response, yes.

It wouldn’t snowball into the next chronological event (WC items added to CS, CS items added to TO for example), the items would compound from one Winter Contingency to the next Winter Contingency. I want the previous year’s event items to make a return in the new year’s repeat event so that players have chances to unlock the previous year’s gear and new players don’t feel left out.

But more so to my other point: It makes total sense that we haven’t seen another Winter/Holiday themed Winter Contingency because we’ve had one Winter/Holiday season where it could’ve popped up.

Honest question: hypothetically if that event were to return do you expect to see Winter Contingency pop up anytime before December of 2022?

Fractures is a themed repeat event within a season, it was advertised as such. Which is why Fractures is returning with Season 2, the theme of which differs from Season 1. Fractures is in fact returning.

I didn’t ignore Cyber Showdown/Tac Ops. I made a point in arguing “Winter Contingency” would be out of place in the Spring, Summer and Fall so if it were to return you wouldn’t see it return until late December. Which again is about 7 months away from a factual confirmation of who’s assumption is correct.

Now, CS/TO were similar to WC in the sense they were LTE’s that lasted approximately 2 weeks each. Chronologically speaking CS/TO happened after WC, which can be inferred that if they were to return, we wouldn’t see them until after WC based on the timeframe they appeared in.

This is “Shrödinger’s LTE schedule” whether you want to admit it or not. Precedent exists for both the probability of repeat events and the discontinuation of them simultaneously.

I think iconic armors “MK V” and challange swaps should be free. But the rest shouldnt. Or we can have it were extra 25-30 levels of event peices that are free.

I definitely think they should go with this (at the end of a season however) or use a weekly token shop like MCC where you can earn token maybe through challenges and exchange it for an older cosmetic you missed.

Exactly.

This is precisely why this challenge system stinks (there other reasons of course). The solutinog is to let players who missed out have a way to get the items at a later date(s) and undergo the same level of rigor that the other players experienced the first time. Also known as the commendation system.

Wanna get that Abbey Lime Sniper Coating? Get 20 headshots with a sniper. Want a banner shaped like a flag? Win CTF Matches. And so on.

The beauty of the commendation system was that it didn’t have a time limit. Goals could be complete whenever a player was ready, and standard, limited-time challenges were only meant to offer extra XP.

I strongly disagree. These are timed and limited events and the rewards for them should remain timed and limited. It sucks for those who missed out but it sucks more for the people who spend the hours grinding out these rewards only to have the developers make their time worthless later on.

Ok that’s good, hopefully the player base does not die out. Season 2 just released, so that’s good.

There should be time limited and timed rewards but here also should be reward that are not time limited or timed. If all players know that there are rewards that aren’t time limited or timed they will play the game more often.

There are games I no longer play because I know for an absolute fact that I wont finish the timed and time limited rewards, so why should I care about a reward that I know I cant get.

Having rewards that aren’t timed and time limited gives all players more reasons to play the game, and it also give them a reason to play at their own pace.

Like a battlepass that doesnt expire?
