Weekly Blog (game update)

This makes me laugh as I did 19 challenges that week and was no way inclined to carry on to get the capstone!!!

My laziness has paid off!

Wait for the eventual “We learned a lot from Halo Infinite statement…” from 343i.

Thats a blanket statement these days for “We are in complete disarray!” Its all the rage these days. Go see Cd projeckt, Activision Blizzard…Bioware…

Busy doing interviews for Washington Post. maybe proxy publishing to reach a broader audience.

They acknowledged that they unlocked all of the rewards for people but not that they left all of other weapon modes in SWAT.

I don’t think they meant to keep them in or they would have said something positive about it - or something at all.

This is not the blog we’re looking for.

Going out to buy some snacks… on the halo front it might be an interesting evening in the locker room!

The blog will read like an April fool’s joke but won’t be one.

Hello, we learnt nothing.

It’s 7:37 AM, they don’t release them in the morning

From what I gather: they post it hidden during the day and it gets verified around 10pm BST/GMT which works out to about mid afternoon on the west coast of the US of A.

I read yesterdays one about 10pm and it said it had been posted 11 hours ago - yet it had been up about an hour.

I think the line ends with Bill Gates wife needing to read and sign it off - before they can give the go ahead.

I don’t expect the blog to be particularly helpful:

Well, FWIW we released an Infinite “March Update” at the beginning of March. Since that blog there’s also been a dedicated post on anti-cheat and ranked - two of the hottest topics the team is tracking. Tomorrow we have part one of a season 1 outcomes blog as we are nearing t-minus one month until S2 kicks off.

And on the topic of blogs and updates let me just say we also fully acknowledge that we’re not truly able to say everything many folks want to hear. We get it and it’s a tough spot to be in all around. S2 will be a good step but there’s a lot of work to do and most of it is going to take more time than most want. This also includes taking more time to have ‘real’ dates/details we can commit to as the team continues to work through planning and future updates. For now though, all focus is on launching s2 and charting out a regular cadence of updates thereafter.

There are indeed a lot of challenges and constraints. We’re certainly not happy to be unable to meet player and community expectations, it’s a difficult situation that’s going to take the team time to work through. Right now the focus is on S2 and we’ll have more to share on that in the coming weeks. Meanwhile a lot of production planning, costing, planning, hiring, etc… is all happening which doesn’t really lend to detailed regular updates. We understand the community is simply out of patience and frankly, I think understandably tired of words. We just need some time for the team to get the details sorted and then we can certainly share as much as we can.

If anyone was in any doubt, this is clear evidence from the horses mouth that 343i are totally incompetent and the whole implementation of this game is and has been a total train wreck.

Everything has already been said by the community numerous times, yet here we are once again with 343i saying they need more time. Quite frankly it’s pathetic and embarrassing.

Reading between the lines a bit (or maybe a lot), the picture of Infinite’s MP development I’m building is that:

  1. The critical parts of the game that received the most vociferous feedback were too far along to change by the time the content was digested by the community and feedback provided. It is likely that several systems and components of the software were built around the design of the systems that received backlash.
  2. The fact that the software design was predicated on these systems, and the fact that the community dislikes many of these systems (limited # of rotating playlists, swaps, boosts, challenges, customization, progression, etc), likely means that the initial plans for post-release had to be scrapped once feedback started coming in and the scope of the design issues was realized
  3. Once released, bugs were identified that further shifted priorities away from both post-release plans and away from design rearchitecting work (BTB, crashing, etc)
  4. Given that the game came in hot, and with the sudden reprioritization in terms of what work was necessary post launch - likely several times - they’re likely at a point now where they were intending to be pre-launch
  5. Iterative updates and changes from season-to-season are likely, but it’s still early days and Season 2 they’re hoping to get their feet under them for forward progress, even if it’s starting with baby steps
  6. They’re at least aware of why the community is upset, but it’s not going to change the fact that it’s going to be slower than everybody wants

Crappy place to be - for them and for us - and hindsight being what it is, I feel like if flighting was done earlier, or the delay longer to accommodate flighting over the summer and incorporating the feedback from the flight, then we’d be in a better situation.

Is it saying 14 days ago for you yet?
It’s 15
Days ago for me now….

Where are you located? I wonder if it’s a timezone/dateline issue.

The anti-cheat blog shows 14 for me right now, but I’m in EDT (GMT -4).

GMT +8 here.
Australia.
It’s Saturday here, April 2nd.

Ah, that’s it. Their posts are always based on Pacific time, currently GMT -7. Right now, for 343, it’s 1:05 PM on Friday. It should be available within the next 4-7 hours. Sometimes they do run as late as like 7 or 8 PM Pacific.
