Dude said he’s been playing for well over 20 years, based on how’s he’s talking I really don’t believe it if he thinks grindy OCD progression systems have been a reason to play anything.
There are 600k players that log into CSGO daily, 80% of matches are played on 2 maps Dust II or Mirage with the same game mode, match after match with almost no progression based or challenge systems implemented. It’s the biggest PC game statistically speaking, and it has zero of the reward driven systems that OP suggests make a game successful.
Buddy every day 600k players log into CSGO and play statistically about 5 maps total across one game mode. No standard progression system, no guaranteed rewards for match completion, not even a 1st party stat track system.
Compared to that, guaranteed 50xp a match is mana from heaven. Players choose to play CS because it’s easy to get into and difficult to master and is fun because of that. If you truly believe you need to grind to have fun, you need to learn a thing or two from the 600k players who play CSGO for literally nothing in return.
A huge part of the fun for me is in leveling up based on my performance, and feeling a sense of accomplishment in rising up in rank, based on my own effort.
Sure, shooting guns at people is great, but there needs to be more to it than that. Otherwise, I might as well go play Doom: Eternal…
Out of the 20~ or so ranked games I have played, I think I had 2 people quit in total, no crashes, or disconnects. If you truly think that multiplayer is going to constantly be a 100% everyone stays until the end regardless of the score situation, you really need to drink some wake tf up juice.
It be nice of they had more daily challenges, and maybe reset weeklys that are not tied to the Ultimate challenge. Maybe even offer armor peices through completion of those.
I play with a predetermined stack. I’ve done so in every competitive multiplayer mode I’ve dabbled in since CS Source, it’s the only way to ensure the legitimacy and integrity of your team.
There have been 3 instances thus far of members of my team dropping matches due to an internet outage, a game crash, and a PC crash. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue, as a a team could play defensively until the player could just join back in, but this isn’t the case in Halo Infinite.
As someone with 1100 hours on CS, 1500 hours on Overwatch, 500 hours on Destiny, 600 hours across all previous Halo titles, the only “wake tf up juice” I’ve been drinking is the one that banks heavily on a pre-stack of players you trust for optimal results.
I guarantee that 50% of dropped players do not do so intentionally, and if given the chance to rejoin would. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed.
NukMasta, your assessment is a little shortsighted.
The video game industry has changed to ensuring maximum participation from the player base (and get more out of the player’s wallet). The most popular/profitable multiplayer games all use cosmetic purchases to further profitability and further develop the game. On one side, this allows the developer to make money after the initial purchase (which I think is reasonable). However when XP is the same regardless of winning/losing/tie and the user no longer is put into a negative feedback loop.
I don’t believe players want Halo to be COD, but the game is designed to keep your attention with challenges to unlock cosmetics. Someone at 343 made a choice to put up a paywall for content that is already in your game that was purchased (or through game pass subscription). This is the problem. Dangle a reward to keep player attention while limiting the ability to get an award.
Reminds me of destiny 2, except theres actually content to be played in destiny. I finished all my weeklies but I still play, it just sucks to play a lot and not even gain a battle pass level all day
I agree with you there is a lot with Halo infinite’s multiplayer that needs to be changed and it is just a beta at the moment they are going to definitely be fixing things in the future and it’s good to criticize them because they need the criticism so that the game can actually be fixed and made better and as the game stands now there’s not really much incentive to play the game there’s nothing that’s enticing me to play it I’m still playing the MCC more than I play Halo infinite I enjoy Halo infinite and I will play every now and then but I just don’t really have many reasons to continue playing the game when campaign is finally released I will definitely be playing that and I saw a comment in another one of the forums that is a genuinely really good idea for 343 to follow
I agree with you there it really sucks spending hours in the game and not even coming close to ranking up in the battle pass I’m not even to level three yet and I have played the game a decent amount it just genuinely sucks that you only get 50 XP per match and challenges are also very minimal now I know that each level is only a thousand points but you should be blowing through those quickly until the higher levels making every single one of them a slow crawl to get to does not make it any good because it is enticing people to buy the levels rather than grind for them
@Spartan0112@XP3C
I have no hate for this exp progression system and well over a thousand hours playing Halo games.
I think this progression system lets ranked matches gauge the performance of individuals. I think it also has made objective gameplay more of a team game because it doesn’t solely mater how many of the other team you kill (unless your playing slayer) or if you are the one that scores. You get 50 exp for playing. Everything else is for bragging rights, self worth, pride, a test of skill, and which team (if your joining as a team or with your friends & family) is better then the other.
My favorite game types are objectives game types. Stock pile is a great game type and I am excited to play it on some different maps in early December. Regardless if they change the exp system or not.
If you need to grind out challenges or bounties or whatever the game calls it to have a sense of fun or completion, you have undiagnosed OCD and are not here for the gameplay.
Reorient yourself to enjoy games, don’t approach them as another chore in a monotonous life. Maybe Halo isn’t right for you. Destiny offers a minimum of 20 daily hub challenges, rank up rewards, and BP progression. If you have to fill some sort of grindy void that life just isn’t giving you with, I dunno, a boring day to day job, then Destiny has that for you in spades.
As for me, I’m going to keep enjoying the fresh take on the classic Halo competitive arena style gameplay this game has to offer. You know, the reason any of us actually picked it up to begin with?
Besides your math doesn’t make a lick of sense, even if you weren’t running double XP, you’d have leveled up your BP by at the absolute least 6 ranks if you had all your challenges done in 2 days. Doesn’t really matter though, you’re clearly not here for the gameplay. So maybe it’s best you are done, like I said if you need to fill that grindy OCD void, Destiny Awaits.
I have yet to get a straight answer from anyone I called out for downloading this title for the progression system alone.
Everyone just deflects from the point or continues to attack the progression system.
Nobody, and I mean N O B O D Y downloaded Halo Infinite for the express purpose of a completing a progression system that up till a few weeks ago very few people knew about. If you’re going to call me a bully for calling out people who are making mountains out of molehills post facto about a feature they didn’t even download the title for, then you need some better argument points.
These people need help or a different outlet, not a better progression system.
