I stopped going for the weekly reward months ago because of how unhealthy the challenges are, forcing you to play a certain way and almost always leading you to become frustrated with your experience
This game desperately needs progression-based XP so people can earn at their own pace …and have fun while playing.
What they need to do is:
1/ have challenges and a rewards specific to playlists
2/ then remove gametype-based challenges from quick play and replace with “get x kills”, or “earn x medals” type challenges
It’s also rigged because the RNG system becomes not-so-random based on your challenges. Instead it becomes less likely to get the map/mode/weapon that you need to complete your active challenges. It’s a garbage system designed purely around making you frustrated enough to spend money in the store.
Was losing my mind playing fiesta last night, teams took control of the launchers and I’d spawn right in front of a rocket or a dude sprinting with an energy sword. RNG does not equal ‘challenge’. Unless you say RNG is part of the challenge, which is. Idk kinda lame bruv.
I feel like the more you swap out and complete challenges the more it learns which challenges you want. If you finish everything it throws at you, I’m guessing it will keep throwing everything at you.
I have a had a ton of stacked complete/win X matches lately.
“Kill an enemy carrying your flag” is super specific in both gametype and playlist
“Get 20 assists in fiesta” this is a power weapon mode; pretty much. You’d be surprised how many matches it takes to get this many assists.
“Earn cumulative score in tactical slayer” well, Half my challenges are fiesta challenges so I have to wait for my wife to complete some of these before we get pwned in SWAT.
“Use the MG48 to get 10 kills”. Turret. BTB only. Nope
Honestly, I play in a squad of 4 every day of the week for about 2-4 hours a day. After about 30 minutes of challenging the weeklies I’m just done and we drop into arena.
I just want to play what I want to play and earn something for it. My bar goes up by 100xp every game and goes towards nothing
Don’t think it makes a difference dude. I’ve used all my swaps and I get the same rubbish every week.
If it is learning what I can and can’t do it is definitely pushing me towards the shop and swap purchases by giving me stuff I have difficulty completing
Halo Online says otherwise. Before the game was cancelled, there were over 216 armor sets total, both returning from Halo 4 and Halo 5, and new designs; some of which were ported to Halo 3 MCC since sadly Halo Online was cancelled.
That’s the point, 343 made it frustrating on purpose so they could sell challenge swaps and xp boosts artificially inflating the value of useless consumables.
CTF - Easy, camp defend your flag and wait for them to grab it
Assists - Easy, shoot enemies with a weak weapon and let teammates get the kill, or play with friends and feed your friend kills
Tac - Easy, I usually finish this in 2 matches
Turret - Easy, it’s the fastest TTK weapon in BTB. Rip it off the mount, spray, get kills. The Warthog turret also counts.
This all sounds like skill issue my guy, ngl
Like, no joke, those are probably the easiest challenges I’ve ever heard anybody complain about. 5 Killjoys in Fiesta is hard. Destroying an Enemy Scorpion is hard. Saving a teammate from death at a far distance 3 times is hard. Those are easy challenges.
They’re very situational and force me into playlists I don’t want to play, to play gametypes I don’t want to play. In a squad of 4 you’re also awaiting teammates challenges popping up so you can all progress in any given game simultaneously.
This is the problem - and by all means if you think slaving away to complete 21 challenges for even a skin is OK then fore away my man and go ahead and grind. I’m not touching the weeklies because they take too much time and suck the fun out of the game.
There is NOTHING simple about ANY of that in practice.
On top of needing a specific game mode, which can be extremely time consuming if you’re playing through ALL your games.
-CTF
You need to really, REALLY luck out on having a mediocre team, or an overly aggressive enemy team.
CTF games tend to be extremely one sided. And you need to WILLINGLY throw the game you’re meant to be playing to win. There is no Guarantee that the enemy team will get anywhere near your flag, just as there is no Guarantee that you’ll be able to kill the flag carrier, since they will USUALLY drop the flag to fight back.
-Assists in Fiesta,
Again, to do this you need to play extremely sub optimally, close to throwing your games.
You need to willingly give up 1Hit Kills weapons in favor in favor of lesser weapons,
You may have a team that isn’t doing well, or who are getting 1hit kills before you can tag anyone.
You will be throwing away lives letting the enemy kill you just so you don’t accidently kill them in the process.
-Swat
Get over yourself lol, the problem isn’t about you.
Some games go horrifically bad, at higher MMR Swat because so disgustingly unfun to play because everyone who plays it is Disgustedly sweaty,
A good chunk of players HATE swat because its a mode that completely dominated by campers.
Its not a fun challenge to get.
-Turret
It literally ONLY spawns on Fragmentation.
There is no other map in the ENTIRE GAME that spawns the detachable turret.
So.
A. You need to keep playing Matches until you get THE ONLY MAP IT SPAWNS ON.
B. You need to contest with 12 OTHER PEOPLE ON YOUR TEAM for control of it.
C. You need to Live long enough to Drag it ACROSS THE MAP to start getting kills with it.
And not IMMEDIATLY get your brains blown out by the 4 different precision weapons that spawn all across the map.
D. In the case of the Warthog, you need to pray to GOD that you’re the first to hop into the gunner seat, and your Driver isn’t a braindead that immediately drives you into 10 Grenades, A shock Rifle, and Within Hijacking Range.
These Challenge SUCK.
This isn’t an issue of skill,
This is the devs designing pointlessly obtuse Challenges to force players through multiple games, to farm play time out of them.
Challenges that REQUIRE you to play badly to accomplish are thee WORSE offenders.
Challenges that REQUIRE you to play Quick play, and pray that you get the 1/5 chance that you get the mode you need, ON THE MAP YOU NEED. Are utterly stupid.
And when you leave matches because you didn’t get the map you need?
They Temp ban you.
These systems are full on malicious.
And as incompetent as 343i is on the surface,
All of this is by design,
They KNOW that the challenges they made are bad,
They are bad by design.
They only exist to farm play time.
And when you don’t play by their stupid rules,
They punish you for it.
Don’t get me wrong, all the Halo Infinite challenges are stupid, some don’t even count points or work right, and the whole challenge system is intentionally malicious, because 343 only cares about selling swaps and xp boosts.
I shared this post with a few friends, and they also think the weekly is pretty easy to do in one sitting. The RNG on stuff like game mode definitely doesn’t help, but the challenges that guy listed specifically were not difficult, compared to some abysmally asinine challenges I have seen since the betas. 343 has very slowly been removing the worst of the worst challenges, and hopefully, eventually, they’ll make it more like MCC and scrap this trash challenge system entirely. I hate the challenge system and capstone system as much as everyone else. It’s one of the reasons I never bother to play, because the rewards are almost never worth the effort. 6 hours is almost a full work day. That’s not worth it to anyone for a sticker, backdrop, or ugly coating.
I could be doing anything else better than challenges. They’re not even challenges, they’re chores. I hate logging into a game and feeling like I am working instead of having fun. If I dread the idea of playing a game, and sigh or groan when I start it up, it’s not a fun game
