Want to play fun social gametypes like Infection, SWAT, Action Sack, Snipers, Multi-team and Grifball in matchmaking like you could with Halo Reach and 4 in Halo 5? Well that sucks, cause you’re probably going to have to wait til your favorite game-type is place into rotation. The article quoted below basically is telling people that enjoy these types of social playlists in matchmaking to -Yoink- off to custom games and wait till the gametype is in rotation like back in MCC (which was awful). We need to make this a major issue and convince 343i to change this cause this has caused my hype levels to decrease massively. But oh don’t worry 343i will be sure to support MLG and Esports 100%!
BEFORE YOU COMMENT, PLEASE READ THIS:
> Some of you people really don’t know what you’re talking about, have you even played Halo Reach/4? You can get in games fast in most playlists yet those games have relatively low populations, definitely much MUCH less than what Halo 5’s population will be, so please stop saying it’s because of population issues when that’s not true.More playlists =/= more fun and variety. Being limited to playing my favorite playlist only on weekends is AWFUL, how would you feel if they made BTB a weekend only playlist? Or Team objective? You wouldn’t be saying that’s a good idea would you.
Edit: 16 players capped for custom games is another annoyance from 343i, you’re tell me Halo 5 can’t handle 24 players with dedicated servers and next gen technolgy but Battlefield on last gen can? tut. Also i wouldn’t expect the AI from Warzone to be added to Forge either due to ‘limitations’ cough Far Cry 3 cough
> BGE: Halo is many things to many people, as I’m sure you’re aware – How do you cater for all tastes at launch via playlist management? Will the arguably niche, but still hugely popular gametypes like Grifball, SWAT and Infection be there at launch?
> Josh: You’re absolutely right – Halo has a massively diverse fan base, which is both a tremendous strength and a challenge when it comes to curating experiences. It simply isn’t possible to cater to all tastes within our core playlists. That’s what custom games are for, and we’re excited to be hosting all customs on dedicated servers for Halo 5. This means that players can set up their own experiences, leveraging a wide range of available game types and custom game options, and have the same excellent online experience we provide in matchmaking. In addition to our core matchmaking playlists, we will have a rotation of additional game types featured within the new Weekend Social playlist each week.
Double xp weekends NEED to return!! they were so much fun during h3s times… infection one week, grifball another, action sack another, just so much fun!!
If SWAT isn’t present as a consistent playlist i’ll be irritated, I enjoyed that playlist the most in the master chief collection. I don’t care for infection much, but there should be dedicated playlists for SWAT, oddball or a playlist where people could vote for grifball, oddball or other niche types.
double xp weekends aren’t needed either IMO, because there aren’t many unlocks related to rank. Everything is in the REQ packs now, so rank is literally just a number…at that point who gives a darn.

That’s really subjective, most people really enjoy playing social playlists like Infection and Grifball and spend most of their matchmaking time in them, including me. Being limited to weekends SUCKS!

sorry i didnt actually read the writing until now xD that is a bit annoying… especially ones that very popular they should be available all the time! and although there is only 16 in customs, i would have liked 24… but im not too upset to be honest… hopefully in H6 theyll increase the player cap

I agree, especially with a playlist like SWAT, 343i say they care about all community’s but then they go and do this. Really 343i? What they should do is have a entire section of matchmaking dedicated to social/community gametypes like Arena or Warzone.
The MCC rotation is horrible. We need fresh playlist weekly. Anything from Action Sack to 3 ball to infection. H3 was so successful in that area, yet no one has tried to do anything like it since.
This shouldn’t be acceptable at all, especially when Halo Reach has all of the social playlists available and that game is over 5 years old with only a 15k player peak yet i can easily find games fast in those playlists! This is complete BS from 343i right now!

Halo Reach nailed the playlist system down perfectly, you had all of the playlist you could want yet easily get into games quickly and efficiently. There’s no excuse as to why they’ve limited it to a single playlist.
Yes, as I’ve mentioned in another thread, this worries me. So far, the only social playlist that is core, will be Warzone. I feel like they are going to toss Action Sack, Grif, and Infection into rotation. This means the majority of your week will be competitive or Warzone. I do not want to go to customs with people or stay in Warzone to enjoy the social experience.
This is taking a page out of Halo 3, in that double xp weekends featured social gametypes. It worked then, but after Bungie saw how much traffic it caught, it remained a core playlist in Reach. 343 did it with Halo 4, Infection being very popular, Grifball did well, so I hope this continues for Halo 5. There’s no telling what 343 will do. Just how I expected armor and emblem customization system to stay traditional and improve, that changed.
Edit: It’s not MCC rotation, this will be weekly like H3.
They could also make them permanent playlist if they wanted to. I suggest making some noise. As for reach all of those game modes were not permanent at its launch. After years of reach being out those playlist and game modes got added. The same can and probably will happen to this game.

Yeah but it makes you look forward to the weekend, i remember coming home from school on friday, rushing to it and getting all my mates together to play double xp and then just playing it all weekend, and a new one everyweekend made it fresh
I would like a few social playlists, if only to warm up in, but if not it’s not that big of a deal to me. I’m sure if there’s enough interest they’ll gladly put it in after release, 343 simply likes a tight roster of playlists at the start.

Yeah it did but it took years for them to nail it its not like they had the playlist and those game modes at launch. These were reaches game modes at launch and after years more got added and became permanent. The same could happen for this game.

That’s not relevant because we’re talking about now not back then. What do they have to learn? They know social playlists are popular and successful as evidenced in Halo Reach, 4 and MCC so why are they going against that for some odd reason? It doesn’t make any sense to me. Also as others have said before me, the best way for this to be reversed or change is to complain about it.
I’ll never understand the thinking of limiting playlists as much as they do. If something isn’t available that people want to play, they generally won’t go play something they don’t want to play. This is exactly what happened to the vast majority of people on my friends list in MCC because we couldn’t play 4v4 Halo 1. When that playlist does come out they will play Halo again. Till then they’re simply playing other games. I’m sure the same goes for a lot of swat and infection fans. If they can’t play it in H5, they’ll simply play other games, not Arena or Warzone.

Who said they’re going against it? You guys are coming up with some weird things just to fuel your frustrations, btb isn’t being released at launch but it is coming after launch, and the social game modes are starting out as weekend events until if/when they decide to add it what is the problem with that?
