Weapons you don't want to return

I’ve seen a lot of threads focussed on the weapons from previous games that people would like to see again and that got me wondering, which weapons don’t people want to see again.

I personally don’t want the following weapons to return:
Reach Assault Rifle (it just didn’t look or feel right imo)
Grenade Launcher (preferred both the Brute Shot and the Concussion Rifle, the GL just wasn’t fun for me)
Needle Rifle (the Carbine was much better)
Plasma Launcher (I just plain did not like this)
Focus Rifle (again, I far preferred the equivalent weapons from previous games, this just looked and played poorly)

I realise that all the weapons I have listed are from Reach, this wasn’t a conscious decision and I’m not saying that I want all other weapons to return, these are just the ones I actively dislike. Are there any weapons from that you don’t want to see again?

DMR

I actually kind of liked the grenade launcher because of emp effect against vehicles. Its easier to emp vehicles with that than it is with the plasma pistol.

Also if there not going to be any way actual practical to use, just get rid of the weapons like the plasma rifle and repeater.

Weapons >

  1. DMR (Prefer the Battle Rifle)
  2. Needler rifle (prefer the Carbine Rifle)
  3. Plasma launcher (prefer Fuel Rod Gun)
  4. Halo Reach’s MA37 AR (prefer Halo 3’s MA5C AR, with better sound and more kick)
  5. Focus Rifle (prefer Halo 3’s or 2’s version)
  6. Plasma Repeater (UNSC don’t have an LMG so why should the covies)
  7. Brute Shot (Just plain -Yoink-)
  8. Mauler (only useful when dual wielded, otherwise a piece of -Yoink- weaponry)
  9. Concussion rifle (Basically giving the covenant a super fast grenade launcher, instead of grenades it’s plasma though… Talk about overpowered)

Vehicles >

  1. Halo 3 Hornet (prefer the Falcon)
  2. Rocket warthog (This vehicle is utterly useless. Everytime I’m driving it in Reach’s campaign it makes me wish for a gauss warthog instead)
  3. Revenant (Spectre instead please)

I personally like the Grenade Launcher. Pro Pipe FTW.

I didn’t really like any of the guns Reach added. Maybe it was because I didn’t like Reach, who knows.

There really wasnt any weapon I disliked. I’d like to see a variety of weapons, but truth be told, I’d rather see newer models built by the improved engine.
Like a MA5D or M6E, or a M90 Mk. III or something.

If any weapons do return they should be balanced better. Take the Plasma Repeater for example. It’s horribly underpowered. It needs either better accuracy or more power

EDIT: There ya go, I wasnt too big of a fan of the mauler either.

I think all weapons should come back… at least in forge. its nice to have a verity of weapons on maps + i like both needler and carbine… would like the full arsonal

  • i think they should have different versions of weapons, like an assault rifle with 30 round mag and a assault rifle with 60 round mag… or even a normal smg and the smg from Halo 3 ODST!

If feasible, then I would like every weapon to return, although weapons that don’t really “fit” don’t need to be used. These weapons could just be used for particular gametypes in custom games, or to achieve a certain feel.

Pretty much utility weapons, anything completely useless, and anything completely redundant. But of course I’m referring only to standard Multiplayer; for Customs and Forge, I think they should bring back every weapon (hell, they don’t even need to update the graphics, so long as it works the same).

I can see there being multiple models. Like have the MA5D for it’s 60 round mag and the MA37 for it’s accuracy (The only reason why I chose MA37 as an example is because it’s aesthetic design makes it easier to distinguish from the other MA5 models) And have the S7 for it’s automatic firing + scope and allow the SMG to be brought back for dual-wielding purposes.

I personally don’t want the plasma repeater back, I think the plasma rifle does the job just fine and it can be dual-wielded. However I would really love to see the grenade launcher come back because it can do things no other weapon can and it takes more skill to use than any other weapon I’ve seen, the GL can rebound around corners and off of walls and it has both EMP and explosive capabilities.

I saw it as a proper solution to the assault rifle. The PR felt more like the SMG equivalent starting at Halo 2.

I think none should comeback in the campain so we have to experiment with the new weapons to figure out whats good or bad, but have the old ones in the multiplayer plus new ones

Most “new” guns in Reach need to go.

I kind of agree. The Plasma Repeater had potential but it was poorly implemented. It could return if there’s dual wielding. Up its power and make it single wield only.
