Now I know it sounds a bit but here me out
Now let’s say you start off with a basic assault rifle and you kill someone and they have the same gun but instead of just getting ammo you can upgrade your gun to grade 2 and it becomes slightly better with a cooler design. There may only be a only be a limit of grade 3/4 depending on the gun but once you die it gets reset to grade 1.
I’ll give you some examples for a better idea
Grade 1 BR
Grade 2 BR: increase zoom and bigger mag
Grade 3 BR: can take a few shots (unless by a power weapon) before de-scoping and 1 extra bullet per burst
Grade 1 AR
Grade 2 AR: quicker reload and slightly more accurate (like the halo 3 AR)
Grade 3 AR: slightly quicker melee and increase mag size
Edit:
If you don’t like these examples we could tone it down with just one upgrade like bigger clip per grade rather than 2 upgrades.
I don’t know… I would prefer for Halo to return to having people be on more equal grounds when they spawn, not move it further towards inequality and imbalance…
It seems like what you’re doing here is rewarding the winning players with better gear, giving them a bigger advantage over other players. The thing about Halo is that, if you were losing, you always had the chance to step up your game and achieve a victory, since you and the other guy had the same base traits and equipment. But, with your suggestion, the losing players will just get beat on more and more as the game goes on.
I’d have to take a pass on this, sorry.
I don’t really like this idea because it just gives the good players a bigger advantage over the poor players than they already have.
I do not like this idea at all. Nobody should be able to upgrade their weapon to have more ammo and better range. It isn’t balanced and would pretty much just make a better players job easier. Bad players may not want to get stomped on, but good players don’t want a cake walk either. The idea just isn’t a good one for Halo, no matter how many smiley faces you put behind it.
NO NO NO NO NO!!! This idea is more at home in maybe Skyrim or Borderlands, but not Halo. Halo is an arena FPS, not an RPG shooter.
This would completely unbalance the game more than armour abilities and perks do now. The main things that helped make Halo as popular as it is (or was) is that it was FAIR and BALANCED. Everyone started equally and had all the same equal chances while playing. This idea is terrible and shouldn’t even have been thought of for use in an arena shooter. Like both DragonzealotX and DecepticonCobra said, this would give the higher skilled, much better players a huge unfair advantage over players who are not so good or just learning to play, causing a drop in population (the last thing 343 need at this point in the franchise’s already unstable life).
I like the idea of evolving weapons, and I think it would fit into halo, however, the outcome would probably be a complete disaster. Maybe for something like spartan ops or firefight, after say… 50 kills without dying, or 5 assassinations. It could even be implemented into campaign between missions.
Mp would fail hard though.

If I use a mega stone, will it tun into a sniper rifle?
No but really, I’m inclined to agree with cobra and hotrod on this one. It just wouldn’t be balanced for multiple reasons.
Not really balanced at all. There are plenty of ways this can go as bad, if not more so, than PODs can.
If players need to do is camp to have a weapon that is freaking powerful, or becomes even more forgiving for messing up, there wouldn’t be nearly as much map movement. They would also be incredibly powerful of they get map control and the power weapons. Might as well call it a match at that point.
No. This wouldn’t work. Weapons needs to have weaknesses. Being able to remove them for the whole of that player’s life would bring nothing but problems to Halo’s multiplayer.
I like these ideas but that would cause alot of imbalance with weapon use. Its like my AR is better because I can get more kills. That’s what makes Halo unique. Its the skill of the player not the power of the weapon that determines who will win the matchup. But like I said those are great ideas for a generic shooter but not for a game like HALO.

As a core gameplay mechanic across all modes: NO NO and NO
as a gameplay element for gametypes like free for all or king of the hill and forge: Sure why not.
