It sounds like the Mangler will fit a Tier 2 role rather than the Tier 1 role it currently occupies.
I honestly can’t see it getting nerfed outright, rather just seeing its use bottlenecked a bit, which isn’t a bad thing. It’s a great weapon, so in this case its role will be treated as such.
this is what they do in apex, hell if a gun is still too powerful its put into the EXTRA RARE category where it only spawns via care package. aka power weapon for halo.
instead of making a gun less viable, make the rest viable so the rest can keep up
All they gotta do is buff plasma Pistol, plasma repeater (4shot plasma gun) and buff the range on shock rifle maybe and buff range on the sentinel beam a bit. And probably do something about the grav hammers long swing time and boom, more weapons can compete against it.
I live by forget a nerf, alter the use of it to create a steeper skill gap. They can do this by either reducing the pullout time, so it will take a little longer to be fired. They could make it so the mangler has a larger respawn timer by 10-30 seconds. They could also make the damage drop off a tad smaller. However, most of those things I still wouldn’t want. I still think buff the other guns to its level. I don’t like when devs just make a gun do less damage, fire slower and reduce melee range.
Don’t forget their other option to hiding, they just flat out can sprint away from combat and have their shields recharge during sprint! That is not fun, at all.
I mean hey look what they did to playable elites they were fun as hell to play as especially with invasion and now we can’t have that because it’s unfair or unbalanced we just want to have fun too ya know!! Some of us aren’t about that sweaty neck to neck face offs
i accidentally called it switching because in doom eternal there is a technique called quick switching which is VERY similar on how it acts and it just sorta buried its way into my brain
but yeah if it acted like normal weapon swapping and not have problems of active frames skipping it would be way more controllable, also this is what they are talking about is “the issue with the mangler” and yet call for damage nerfs when this is a bug, like when you could fast melee
Yeah, if this is why they’re calling for a nerf to the Mangler specifically I really hope 343 pays them no mind. That really has nothing to do with the mangler specifically, and most of the player base doesn’t even use the technique. Try out the charged Ravager with weapon dropping to a BR or sidekick. You can get kills faster than this. Should we nerf the Ravager again?
While I can agree with you on some points the main reason why Halo Infinite plays more like the classic Halo games is because of the competitive crowd. Halo tried to become more casual and we got the disaster that was Halo 4 which had custom loadouts, fast sprint, killstreaks, uneven starts and super high bullet magnetism and aim assist. A lot of the casual gamer crowd just doesn’t understand when certain things are broken and unbalanced but yes the competitive crowd can get a little too carried away and want guns that require no skill to use like the AR nerfed into oblivion (although it does need a bit of a nerf).
What bizarro fantasy world do y’all live in that you can believe “Pros” have ever had serious sway in any Halo game?
The problem with the Mangler is that its effectively a pinpoint Mauler that can still delete a player with 1 shot + melee but also has the range and DPS to outgun many weapons in the Halo Infinite sandbox, especially when factoring in bloom recoil and spread. If you can’t understand why that could be a problem I can’t help you.
In a vacuum the Mangler isn’t especially powerful, outside of its melee potential and shield stripping it would be pretty weak in the Halo 4 or Halo 5 sandboxes, it just stands out because Infinite weapons are pitifully weak outside of few examples and even weapons with a theoretically faster TTK are held back by a combination of bloom, spread, and recoil.
The Mangler itself doesn’t need a nerf outside of perhaps lowering its melee lunge(something that should happen across the board) or more practically speaking it should be on the same type of spawn and timer as a Bulldog/Heatwave.
But what they game really needs is almost universal decrease in TTK, especially where the BR is concerned, via a combination of increasing damage, rate of fire, removing bloom and spread, reducing recoil at the cost of drastically decreasing aim assist and slowing down projectiles(depending on the weapon in question). But that will likely never happen, certainly not until it is too late.
oh iunno, a world where esports is a thing and overwatch happened. and the fact that this website has an ESPORTS tab, honestly its just kinda going “youtubers dont have sway over anything!” they do…
All I have to say is :
Mangler is balanced. Mangler however is powerful, yet too accessible. Solution : nerf the accessibility, not the weapon. Mangler being so accessible is akin to having too many Bruteshots or Shotguns lying around.
Overwatch is Overwatch, Halo is Halo. Halo Pros have never had any real sway, ever, under Bungie or 343. Its straight ahistorical nonsense to suggest otherwise. If the Mangler is nerfed or its spawns are altered it will have been the result of broad public pressure, not because of “pros”
What is it with this recent trend of blaming all of this games issues(or even potential issues like a weapon nerf) on “esports?” Y’all just like scapegoating “esports” or “pros” for decisions you don’t like because you refuse to imagine a scenario where something is done as a result of 343’s own bad decision making or that certain changes might exist because they have widespread support.
The reason people worry about Pro players having sway now is because of how Infinite MP was developed. If you were not aware, Infinite’s MP was developed with close discussions and suggestions from Pro Players and select Veteran Halo Players.
People have a very valid fear that Pro Players/Youtubers have a sway on the game now because Infinite MP was INDEED influenced by them in a small way. This was also recorded in interviews for development in MP on HALO channel.
Halo 5 also had a “pro team” and it was a struggle just to get basic features like descope back in. Neither Halo 5 or Halo Infinite are games you would get if pro-teams at 343 or even the competitive community at large had any sway.
The pro team is almost entirely irrelevant. Its just one small factoid you heard about Infinite’s development and you’ve decided that their mere existence means they must have serious influence when its obvious from just looking at the end product that any influence is negligible at best.
