In halo 4 there was a disturbing lack of weapons on the map. Namley, non power weapons like the AR, BR, Needler, plasma pistol, magnum, etc
The lack of on map weapons (Especially non-power weapons) was really disappointing. On-map pickups have to return in the next Halo.
Okay?
ARs, BRs, Magnums and the like are Loadout available weapons. You can spawn with them. I’m not getting the issue you’re trying to get across about the lack of them on the maps.
Needlers and other “sub-PWs” are placed on the maps.

When they are on the map you have more options for how you want to play in a given situation. Without weapons, it make the map seem dull to me and i feel forced too play a certain way. I’m not to great with words.

And when you like a certain weapon (for me the CC, a widely underused and underestimated weapon) that not many people use, you cannot find ammo for it if you run out.
Load-outs lead to this in the intial days of Halo 4, they eventually corrected this somewhat, but still, should have been a day one thing. the reason they didn’t do it was to make the Ammo perk more inviting, further restricting our choices.
> When they are on the map you have more options for how you want to play in a given situation. Without weapons, it make the map seem dull to me and i feel forced too play a certain way.
What’s the point of more options if they’re useless?
It’s been BR/DMR and your choice of PW since H2. The other weapons just cluttered the map. Even if they did give meaningful choice, it’s only an option if you could get to the weapon.
No to mention that players can alter their loadouts on the fly.
That said, if players all use Suppressors, you won’t find ammo for your Storm Rifle. Should there be SR pickups to refill? Maybe. But then again, I think that denying your opponent ammo refills from your corpse adds a strategic element in either forcing him to run out or play with a weapon he may not be proficient in.

Not having loadouts does that just as well.
This is something that I hate about the Needler.
It’s too good to be a load out weapon and not good enough to be in leagued with other PWs. At least in most circumstances.
In Halo 5 I want it to be simple. Every weapon in the game is either a Primary, Secondary or Power weapon. None of this in between stuff.
Especially since the Needler has a rival in the SAW now and that weapon is considered a PW with no uncertainty. The Needler’s just laughable compared to it at times.
In Halo 5 I want the Needler to either get buffed to the point where it’s place as a power weapon is marked with no uncertainty or get replaced with something that can keep up with other PWs.
Rant over.
Anyways yeah I’d like for load out weapons to be placed on the map for the purpose of ammo.
Something that would be really nice is for weapons with batteries like the SR to have an automatic pick up like other other weapons eg. You have an SR with a half filled battery, if you walk over a fully loaded SR it’ll automatically swap the weapon and you’ll have a fully loaded weapon. It’s not really fair that other weapons get this while those who choose to use battery based weapons miss out on this feature, leaving them at a disadvantage.
I think they made it that way because they expected Infinity Slayer to be the next big thing. -Where players get a new Power Weapon every 5 seconds.
I wouldn’t mind if they removed ordnance drops entirely, which is an idea that illuminates the problem you have talked about. Few normal weapons on map.
It is a problem, and it only gets worse when you take into consideration the rapid despawn of bodies/weapons.
Agree.

If you want the needler to be more powerful why not just return it to a dual-wieldable weapon

You don’t necessarily need to make it dual wieldable to be powerful . The needler in halo 3 was powerful and it was single wielded. It is risking the chance of making the weapon a “half weapon” like in halo 3.
I will agree with OP but for a different reason. That reason is ammo. One of the biggest problems I run into with Halo is if I get on a decent killing streak, I run out of ammo. Everyone spawns with different weapons so you never really pick up a lot of ammo from fallen foes. Plus if you add the despawn time factor in, again there is never enough ammo. I use the ammo perk 80% of the time I am playing.

I wouldn’t support that statement. When I teach beginners in Halo 3 one of the first things I tell them to do, is to drop the needler. The only time I use the needler myself is when I fight for the Rocket on the Pit, or when I have host.

The plasma Pistol is also something you wouldn’t wanna pick up without host. The rest of the sandbox is fine though.

I disagree completely. I feel that loadouts help open up your ability to use your preferred choices.
For instance, in Halo 3 you always spawned with the BR (unless you were a fool who actually played AR starts). But it begs the question: Why weren’t we allowed to spawn with the Carbine?
The Carbine was no more powerful in most given situations than the BR, and also no less powerful on the flipside. So why did I have to risk my -Yoink- traversing the map just to get a redundant weapon I like more?
Also, in Halo you use the weapon you spawn with a heck of a lot more than any other weapon in the game, mostly because you are likely to wind up in engagements before picking anything else up. Having zero loadouts means that you are FORCED to use the default weapons in most battles you’ll get into. That sucks and gets stale fast.
Now I’m not saying Loadouts don’t need to change. I think the whole structure could stand to be more streamlined
Ex: Utility Primary, Automatic Secondary, 1x Grenade
As per what was mentioned up top, in between weapons should still exist, they should be more common than Power Weapons though. For instance, the Plasma Pistol should NOT be a secondary, it should be a slightly more common sub-power weapon.

> If you want the needler to be more powerful why not just return it to a dual-wieldable weapon
Because the single Needler would still be bad in comparison to other PWs.
And you’d have to go find two Needlers before the weapon would be useful while all you have to do with other Power weapons is pickup the one gun and start shooting. It puts the Needler at a huge disadvantage.
And if this were to happen then I’d hate to think that the Needler would be a random, oddball weapon that’s the only Power weapon that could be duel wielded. It’d be silly if it were the only Power weapon like that and we can’t just add new weapons to fix this because that’d be just ridiculous and it’d mean that duel wieldable Power weapons would be a fourth group of weapons alongside Primary, Secondary and Power weapons and I’m pretty happy with just the three. Not to mention the work of re implementing duel wielding again which is a whole mess on it’s own.
I’m not completely against duel wielding but my priority is to get load outs to work first and getting those two to co-exist in the same game could be difficult.
If we do see duel wielding I’d like it just to be secondary weapons. No Primaries or Power weapons. This way there wont be a forth weapon group.
It’d just easier to buff it. I wouldn’t be against a successor to the Needler either. The SAW is really making the old pink mist look bad with how much bigger it looks to the Needler but if a new heavier model were to come out that’d be great. It could be a proper two handed gun with twice as many Needles sticking out, it could be an absolute monster! It’d be kinder like the Plasma rifle being replaced by the Storm rifle only it wont make a lot of people angry (hopefully). Either way I think it’d be easier to just make a stronger single weapon over allowing us to use two half the time.
For the sake of simplicity I just want three different types of weapons and that’s it. No inbetweeners/sub-power weapons. But that’s just me.

They should be on the map for the sake of changing playstyle after spawn.
Though it’s not that big of a deal.
They need to take it back to an arena shooter.
- Get rid of loadouts.
- Get rid of personal ordnance.
- Put weapons back on the map circa H2/3.
- Even starts.
- Exchange AA’s for equipment.
- Get rid of game-affecting perks.

MASSIVELY disagree, the first thing I always did without fail after I spawned was head for the nearest BR/ Power weapon, or whatever my team and I decided we were gonna rush for.
Loadouts make it boring because it gives you a weapon that’s pretty good, so why bother swapping it?? Plus with people running around with overpowered AR’s, you probably won’t get a chance to.
