Hey there Waypoint community, I’m David Sampson. I’m the boss over at Inebriated Ninja Productions, I can guarantee that you’ve never heard of me. Anyways, we’ve been working on a Machinima called ‘Weapons Of War’ set in Halo Reach. The first episode premiered on New Years Day, and we’re aiming for weekly releases. I figured I’d just grab your opinions on it, and tell me how I can improve the series as I go on. Keep in mind this episode is deliberately quite light on plot, its just an establishing episode, to introduce some characters.
If you like it, there are other ways to communicate with us in the description of the video!
I have recently started creating a machinima as well, although still new to it I receive a lot of constructive criticism on how to improve the quality of the episodes. I feel that its useful for us to give feedback on the videos.
Pros:
The episode caught my interest from the beginning and was able to maintain it from Private Oblong who is a optimistic -Yoink-, which most machinimas need for comic relief.
I liked that the voices had they radio effect to simulate radio communication.
The transitions and camera sway was very smooth and created a sense of quality for viewers.
I also liked the array of characters, which allows for more development as the series continues.
The script was nicely written and the voice actors work great together with it.
Cons:
I’m not sure if it’s just Reach or the recording hardware you use but the colors seem a little distorted. (It could also just be me )
The transitions when you are switching scenes seem a little sudden/clunky. Only two of them I noticed, when Crye went to powerhouse delta and the ending. You could try a smoother fade out/fade in.
There was actually very little I didn’t like about the video, it was very well done and has a lot of potential.
The color balancing was something I’ve always had issues with, simply because of my capture card. So I spent the last 9 hours or so figuring out a way, and I think you’ll find the levels in episode 2 a bit more to your liking Thanks for your feedback! This is my favorite feedback so far.
