weapons disappearing way to fast [Video]

I’m getting very sick of this! every time i get a good weapon and die. i run straight back to the place i died and the weapons gone! watch this video and see how bad it is

now since thats out of my system. i agree with OP the weapon despawn is way too quick, a body should disappear sooner than a weapon IMO.

I agree. That kinda stuff doesn’t happen normally. Then again, this is no longer real life. This is the Wargames simulation, controlled by the Infinity’s head crew, 343i.

At first I theorized that it was because of the relatively massive size of Halo 4, but I don’t know if that’s it at all. It happens even on small, isolated maps where it shouldn’t be an issue at all - and they seem to disappear faster, even! I really hope this is something that can be fixed for all manners of play; and for Campaign that they only disappear when you load a new area.

I completely agree… I hate dieing with a sniper in my own base then spawning 10 feet away only to see the sniper despawn infront of me…

it has nothing to do with what the game can and cannot handle…they would just despawn bodies faster

it has everything to do with gameplay

because everyone has the ability to call in a power weapon via personal ordanance they want to limit the number of power weapons on a map at any given time

solve a bad idea with another bad idea…

Yes , I believe it’ll drive us all insane before 343industry considers fixing it , along with many other annoying things .

And for Campaign/Spartan Ops? When I die with a chaingun, I should be able to use the chaingun when I return to by body to pick it up. Same for rockets and the like.

It certainly is irksome returning to your body and finding your weapon having despawned. It’s possible that it’s because the game can’t handle that many objects in the environment (the 360 is, after all, almost 7-year-old hardware).

I can certainly attest to this issue, though I experience it far more in Campaign and Spartan Ops, with War games I mostly just guessed that it was picked up by another player.

Not to mention that this happens not only when you die and drop a weapon, but also when you kill enemies in said game modes, like if you kill a Crawler Snipe or a Knight Commander and the Binary Rifle or Incineration Canon despawns just before you grab it. so I can say at least its not supposed to be a punishment type of mechanic, maybe it is a hardware issue.

This is possible but I’m more inclined to believe it’s because of personal ordnance. With everone having the ability to call in power weapons at any time having them last longer would create the problem of FAR too many power weapons on the map so it’s kind of a 2+2=5 deal.

Also to illustrate how bad it really is multiple times i have assassinated someone with a power weapon and it has literally despawned before the assassination finished.

thank you for the reply! but there is not way to add a few more seconds on to it? i mean you have to admit its pretty crazy that they disappear that quick

Yes the weapons despawn quickly but it is because of the large amount of ordinance drops adding even more power weapons to the map. If all the weapons stayed on the map to long after death then halfway through the match everyone would be running around with nothing but power weapons.

And I agree it is a bit annoying that they disappear so fast but for map balance they must disappear quickly.

The reason behind it is so that maps do not become cluttered with power weapons! Not that I agree with it and it is annoying as sin!

I never thought I would say this, but it’s better like this. It’s a consequence of the horrible addition of ordinances. So either you want your stupid ordinances to remain in this game, otherwise you just have to deal with this.

It does suck however in gamemodes without ordinances. The despawn time should be different in other gamemodes, another thing 343 messed up.

personally i hate ordnance i’m just saying that the despawn time should be bumped to 20 seconds at least.

No one who has actually played the game needs to watch your video as we’ve all lived it. I had a light rifle directly under me despawn in the campaign. The prompt to pick it up was on my screen and as soon as I killed the last enemy the prompt disappeared along with the light rifle. It’s ridiculous how fast they disappear. It makes me wonder if their intention was to punish you for dying by taking away any power weapon you might have, as they despawn faster than loadout ordnance. Your teammates get a few seconds to pick them up, but you have to be really lucky and spawn pretty close by to get them yourself.
