Weapons Disappearing Too Fast?

Hey Guys,

I’m unsure if this topic has already been covered; I’m quite new to these forums and I don’t see a search bar or anything of the sort (I can also be oblivious sometimes). Anyways, is it me or do weapons on the floor disappear way too fast? If I respawn, I can almost never return and grab a power weapon I dropped. Perhaps this is a glitch that Frank O’Conner was just talking about? Perhaps this is done on purpose?

It’s been discussed… probably done to limit the amount of power weapons on the map at a time. No one has said it is a glitch. You have about 10 seconds before a weapon despawn. Fit a loadout with Mobility if you want a chance at grabbing your lost weapon.

It’s done on purpose to prevent a ton of power weapons circulating the map at one time, especially in Infinity Slayer.

From the research that I’ve read and from what I’ve inferred myself, a weapon drop on the map lasts longer once dropped. This is influenced as well by whether or not people have that weapon in LoS (line of sight) and are looking at it (this makes the weapon last a bit longer than normal). I think the time is roughly 12 seconds.

Personal Ordnance weapons tend to disappear instantly once dropped via death or otherwise, again possibly to limit the amount of power weapons on the map at one time.

Now that I think about it, maybe something else I have to test in forge.

6 to 8 seconds in your sight or not.

it’s another broken thing in halo 4.

It’s on-map weapons that disappear fast. Personal Ordinance weapons stick around for quite a bit longer.

IMO, this is backwards, and needs to be reversed. There are a lot more personal ordinance weapons than those found on map, and it creates a situation where far too many power weapons are in play.

Due to being a graphicly intense game, it takes a lot of juice to run smooth without horrible frame drops. to counter this, the engine refreshes the map canvas and saves a lot of power not having to render tons of weapons at once…

It does this disappearing act with everything unfortunately, not just the weapons and is tied very closely to performance concerns.Halo 5 should not have this problem so that is something to look forward too.

^^^Halo 5 shouldn’t have this problem?

It shouldn’t have ordnances so, that fixes the problem right there. Put weapons back on spawn timer and the maps wouldn’t be flooded with power weapons.

Bad prioritization.

I can understand deloading enemies and allies (only a few these days understand the sacred art of collections).

I can understand deloading/blowing up vehicles (linear fps bs).

I can understand the weapons disappearing.

But why do the bodies take longer to disappear?

I dislike having weapons despawn this quickly.

Half the time I’m out of ammo and waiting to bash someone or for a teammate to kick it because even the loadout weapons disappear far too quickly.

Gameplay>Graphics
We didn’t have this problem in previous games

I’ve had instances where I died with a SAW, spawned 100ft away, and by the time I got back, it had despawned. Yes, they are disappearing too fast.

It has been discussed , and we all agree it sucks .

It makes some sense, I suppose, as far as keeping the amount of power weapons limited. But it still sucks :frowning:

A lot of people have complained about the Ordnances in general though. I don’t think they’re an issue at all, but if they were able to be picked back up over and over, they might have that effect, where you’re mostly being killed by power weapons the entire match.
