Yes, but I feel that the pace of Halo 4 is quicker than past Halos. Faster weapon spawns necessitate faster de-spawns. Also, if it translates to a stable frame rate, it’s fine by me.
The sad thing is ordinance drops were added to stop camping and gun rushing, but the first drops on BTB always spawn in the same spot and they put power weapons just closer to the spawns now with no variety throughout the maps.
Weapons disappearing within 10 seconds is also highly annoying, I had a Sniper with 15 extra shots in it and I get hit by a Spartan Lazer, I ran back to get it and nothing was there. If that’s the price we pay for better graphics I’d rather sacrifice the graphics then ruin the gameplay.
Let’s face it, great graphics in a game with constantly glitchy gameplay is not a fun trade off.
Agreed. Weapons disappear too quickly after dropped and the random ordnance drops also need to go, set weapon spawns like every other halo game needs to be brought back.
Weapons have a fixed 12 second timer before they disappear. If a player isn’t looking at or interacting with the weapon, it will disappear. You must also be within a certain distance of the weapon in order for the aforementioned rules to be applied.
Now People start to notice… its not likes its THAT bad, I mean it only happened to the Plasma Launcher in Reach, and now its just all the weapons. and you move a lot faster, so it shouldn’t be that big of a problem… but 12 seconds does seem a little low.
One of many new lame aspects of Halo 4. Agreed. Bad idea. Period.
Dying twice in a row will cause the weapons you initially had to disappear, as far as I can tell.
Several people I know are convinced you cannot pick up ammo from dead players to restock your DMR/BR/any other weapons ammo. It’s probably related to this. Another great design decision.
because 343
I agree. Its annoying, they despawn so fast. Especially after you finally got some good ordinance.
And above, you can pick up ammo from dead bodies, as long as the weapons are still there. Grenades you can’t get without the resupply ability. Ammo is still able to be picked up, assuming you do it before the weapons disappear.
I hate this, and how ordnance despawns, in objective game types like Dominion its annoying that you can run over to get the Rockets or Spartan Laser only to have it explode right before you pick it up so that the enemy Banshee or Wraith can continue killing your team. Weapons should spawn & stay much longer, same with weapons on bodies.
Yeah that too. I walk over to the “Incineration cannon” as clearly labelled 3 feet in front of me, but all I see is a basket of frag grenades.
That’s the 343 way though. Just like the Limited Edition, so with weapons.
Oh thats a different issue even, I just mean weapons depopping before you reach them or as you reach them. Ordnance in general has a problem with labels being correct, I often go for my Rocket Launcher and find an amazing Battle Rifle to take out a Wraith with, or go for the Sniper and find the oh so helpful Sticky Detonator to snipe with. But yes, thats an annoyance as well, hard to actually plan where your going to pick up weapons when the game is not telling you the right things. I have seen a Spartan Laser labeled as Rockets, while 20 feet away there was a Rocket Launcher labeled as a Spartan Laser. My guess is that problem is caused when multiple things are dropped at the same time, the game somehow confuses the names & it screws up, because thats most common in resupplies in Dominion.
If they can’t fix the 12 second despawn issue, the least they could do is put a few primary weapon spawns around the map. But don’t place them randomly like the ordinance weapons, put them in the same location every time.
Also, the random Ordinance drops are power weapons, grenades, and needlers. Why are needlers spawned on the map but not other standard weapons? I don’t think needlers are considered power weapons, are they?
Agreed, this is one very valid Halo 4 complaint.
I’ve never really had a problem with running out of ammo for loadout weapons and not finding more (mainly because I like to fight close quarters as much as possible), but yeah, despawning weapons is one of the most irritating things in Halo 4 so far. Seriously, I hate finally getting a Sniper Rifle, getting killing, and runnning back to the untouched area seconds later only to find my corpse. Also, even though I only filmed and confirmed this once, weapons can disappear IMMEDIATELY when you’re killed (I had gotten a Beam Rifle on Ragnorak and it completely vanished when a Banshee killed me).
I find it funny that all of theses comments seem to affect so much of the community, but 343 has not put out any comments on this matter, just like so many other matters. I think it is safe to say that 343 has successfully killed Halo, at least for the halo players that have been around since Halo 3 or before.

AAmateur used Super Necro!
It’s super effective!
I’ve been saying this since the game came out. I can be really frustrating in Spartan Ops when you lose a decent weapon because you’re suddenly swarmed by enemies. By the time you respawn and get back to where you dropped it, it’s gone.
I think it may be deliberate to reduce the number of power weapons on the map, but even loadout weapons disappear too quickly for my tastes.

Yes, they are. They’re much more powerful than loadout weapons.

I could understand if this is considered a penalty for dying, but enemy weapons can disappear before you can get to them after killing the guy. You have to be really fast to get them in my experience.
