Weapons balance issue is with the aim

I am almost 99% sure after playing the flight this whole weekend that the balancing issue with the weapons that everyone is currently having a problem with AR, sidekick, Commando sometimes the BR and the range being dealt with other weapons has to do with the actual aim mechanics themselves and is not giving a good representation of how each weapon currently functions against eachother in the sandbox…

Completely agree. I said in another post that the AR isn’t the problem at all. People are using it so much because it is actually viable. I sure would love to use the BR or the Commando or even the sidekick, but they are just so damn hard to aim with that there is no point. Aiming in this game is the biggest issue that has GOT to be addressed and fixed before this game goes live.

Everyone needs to start making more posts about this issue and stop posting about weapon balancing because there is no good representation of that currently…

I don’t understand what you mean by said weapons being hard to aim, I personally have no issue using the Sidekick, BR or Commando and the Commando is currently my favorite weapon in the flight. (I play on keyboard/mouse and have no understanding of how said guns feel with controller)

I should have specified I was mostly talking about controller, specifically on PC.

Ah okay, how do you propose they fix it? More Bullet Magnetism? Aim Assist? Side note: I find the Crosshair on some weapons to be too small (I.E. Shock Rifle, Skewer and Sidekick) and I can already say that it would be very hard to see from a couch/chair in a living room.

I think the tiny crosshair sizes are a large part of it. These are by far the smallest reticles we have ever seen in a Halo game, so there is a lot smaller area for aim assist to kick in. I know with some weapons the magnetism is especially bad, i.e. the sniper rifle. In training the aim assist is much more noticeable, and the sidekick and commando actually become more viable, but in matchmaking the aim assist basically doesn’t exist. Like, even up close to people the sidekick just doesn’t latch on to anything at all.

I am by no means a dev or anything of the sort, but I really, genuinely think that the smaller crosshairs combined with no red reticle is causing a lot of aim assist issues. Heck, even the warthog turret reticle is super tiny and like, why? I dunno, I’m by no means qualified to offer a real solution, but it does at least need to be addressed, and some different things need to be tried.

Actually I just found out today that the Sniper is a projectile weapon like the Skewer or Rocket Launcher, I find it very hard to hit shots id normally hit, When it comes to the Warthog crosshair I have such a hard time aiming with it, its small, chunky and unusable in my opinion.

Also since the warthog crosshair is small and doesn’t have that classic hole in the middle, it’s hard to tell when you are actually hitting a far away target since they are completely obscured by the opaque crosshair.

I keep seeing this topic, but I’m not understanding. What makes the precision weapons in this game worse than in previous Halos? What would they have to do to fix the aiming? More auto-aim? Less? Larger head hit-boxes?

In my opinion, at least for PC controller, we need the return of the red reticle, with aim assist that is at LEAST in line with how it is in training. I also think that the crosshairs need to be larger. The crosshairs in this game are super tiny, which means that there is a smaller area to activate aim assist and bullet magnetism.

Yeah I agree. The reticles felt like they had no stickiness to them. It did not feel crisp/satisfying to use precision weapons because of this. I feel like they are super balanced regarding TTK but it was hard to stay on target. Not asking for a call of duty level of stickiness, just a little more aim assist to make gun play a little more crisp and satisfying.

Playing on MnK, and I agree
I can generally win the majority of gunfights with precisions against AR players
The issue is with the ingame systems not working as intended. The more pressure on having to actually hit your shots with precisions is a good thing.
Just that these two factors combined artificially make it seem as if precisions are obsolete

I totally agree. I still think the AR is too viable at medium to long range, but the lack of AA is the bigger issue making all the other guns feel very awkward. I feel like 343 took a lot of steps in the right direction with Infinite, but this one thing really kills the gunplay for me.

Agreed. Aiming on controller is downright awful. I’ve been really optimistic about the game but this is actually a huge issue that’s going to drive away most controller players from open PvP

I don’t have any issues as long as I’m playing on thy series x. When I play on my old One is horrible. Aiming is close to impossible. It’s agonist like anti magnetism. People playing on weaker hardware are getting crushed and it’s not fun. Trust me.

I don’t have a problem aiming on my series x. I do how ever feel that the AR has way, way too much range. You shouldn’t be able to consistently get headshots with it from 20 feet away on full auto.

But I keep hearing there is too much Aim Assist. Is that just for console? Console AA is too strong and PC AA is too weak?

To be quite honest I think they are trolls, hard stop. One of the biggest threads was started by a guy who thinks that literally any aim assist whatsoever is coddling.
