Weapon Variants instead of Attachments.

So looking over some videos of all the premium stuff in H5 Req packs (bleach) I would like to make a proposition in case attachments come back. Instead of individual attachments that are mixed and matched have variants that come with all three slots (barrel, scope, ammo) already filled in prepackaged varients much like how the vehicles have variants and not attachments.

For Example an Oni Variant will have

  • Suppressor - Sound Dampener - Cog SightA Hannibal Variant will have

  • Laser Pointer - Stabilizing Jets - Threat MarkerAnd the Promethean Variant will have

  • Kinetic Bolts - Knight Blade - Morph SightInstead of all the mixing and matches which will result in the min-maxing of every weapon that eventually ruined Halo 5’s gameplay. It is bad enough you have 5 different rifles (DMR, Battle Rifle, Covenant Carbine, Needle Rifle, Light Rifle) in which only one of them is unique in function (needle rifle). Individual attachments won’t be customization it will be homogenization.

I actually really like this idea. I personally am into the idea of having attachments for loadout weapons. Kind of wish warzone let you mix and match like this. I feel like this way would balance it where you don’t just pick the best options for each slot but rather whichever setup works best for you

Another idea that came to mind (when trying to sanitize those req packs) is to take it a step further with say contracts that turn all the basic weapons and vehicles you acquire into the said varients. Such as a Oni Contract which turns all Weapons and Vehicles into Oni variants of that. That way you don’t have to just get lucky on pulling an Oni Scorpion from a Req pack, but then again the Req packs were designed that way as any other pay2win loot box.

Still the idea of variants to vehicles and weapons is a good idea that I could get behind, it is just how they were introduced into H5 warzone (via lootbox req packs) I could not accept.

I like the three slot idea instead of having several variants of the actual weapon but let us choose the attachments.

Well the three slots were not slots but just categories grouped in a video about the different weapon attachments. But also in the video there clearly was attachments that just don’t work so well (i.e. knight blade). If it was full customization then you simply could make an assault rifle a BR or a SMG a Spiker. Looking at the Weapon Customization for Planetside 2 this problem has been presented in full view. All 3 factions which were supposed to have different characteristics and traits, now can be adjusted thanks to weapon upgrades to a point where there is no difference between an optimized Cycler for the Terran Republic than an Optimized Pulsar for the Vanu Soverginty.

I mean the Vehicles don’t get attachments and that is for the better I think, then again 343 could break the vehicle variants into attachments as well so that is also a possibility. But talk about complicating the sandbox, now you can pick between fast body, shielded body, or armored body, different secondaries, different weapons. That would hurt my head as trying to design maps and layouts.

It could get pretty hectic, I’d really have to test it out myself.

Is there a way to test out Vehicle attachments, I mean most of all H5 doesn’t give out any mod support (that could get in the way of Req pack sales), so it isn’t like you could put a Hannibal secondary and an Oni Cannon on a Urban scorpion.

Imagine being able to swap between variants during gameplay, kinda like Republic Commando. I think that would be pretty cool.

Not a fan of this idea
