Okay, weapon tuning is a necessary item that needs to happen before Halo 4 may get better. Anyway my point is, why are 343i flagging it as if it’s something that has to be aired and talked about a lot?
What I’m trying to say, is that if your game needs such an overhaul to begin with, I myself would be keeping it sort of low down, its not exactly an achievemtn, fixing mistakes that could have been prevented by some good old fashion common sense. (Eg: Boltshot- a secondary that is a 1sk…)

Considering 343 gets so much flak for “not listening” I’m not surprised they keep shoving it in our faces. Some people are just too ignorant to accept that 343 does listen.
For the amount of time it takes 343 to do anything (whether controlled by them or not [last time I read, -Yoink!- cert. takes 2-4 weeks]), there isn’t much that can be done to salvage H4 and regain what it has lost.
It’s up to H5, and lets hope that 343 has learned that turning Halo into another generic FPS is not the way to go about being an industry standard.
I think Halo 4 will get better. Remember how crappy Halo 2 online was and then it took some TU’s to fix it?
The only patch that I recall was the magnum nerf/grenade buff. After that, the game was golden.
Granted, the stand-by’s were annoying, but it wasn’t a game mechanic that Bungie perpetrated.
Halo 4 is too much of a copy-cat to retain any sense of self-identity.
Yeah dude, both Halo 2 and Halo 3 had title updates that fixed major issues.
It’s 343’s first game; give 'em a break. Halo 5 will be better.
a few points
- Buffing all the weapons around the DMR is a bad idea
- Buffing all weapons without decreasing shield recharge time is a bad idea
Weapon tuning won’t save or even help this game sadly
As great as a 4sk BR and 7sk carbine might be there is simply just too much wrong with Halo 4

In my opinion*
Because this will probably the only time the do this sort of thing. Honestly they’ll be moving on 100% to their next game (which might get teased Tuesday and should appear at E3). They just want you to see all the effort they spend on “listening to the community” so they never have to again.
It’s way to earlier to tease halo 5. Even if they do start the development of halo 5 they will still release updates for halo 4.
well i think of a couple of reasons there advertising it so much:
(a) the amount of legitmate complaints they have gotten for the dmr been the god gun
(b) the sheer number of people who have stopped playing halo 4 means that the majority of people that this update aims to please are no longer playing regularly if at all thus 343 need to advertise it more than they would have otherwise had to
(C)to show they are listening to communitys complaints, im pretty sure they dealt with most peoples complaints now regarding loadout weapons, boltshot nerf, dmr nerf carbine 7 shot , br 4 shot, warthog gun buff, automatics reduction in aim assit and so on
(D)to actually get some positive publicity from the fans maybe
Im by no means saaying halo4 is a great game or even good for a halo game but i will say is 343 are slowly improving it through quinn and bravo and are making changes which the COMMUNITY is asking for

They’re not amateurs, a lot of them people worked on previous halo games… They don’t get an excuse in my book. Infinity is an abomination to HALO
> It’s 343’s first game; give 'em a break. Halo 5 will be better.
This is one thing I see now and then that I really disagree with. A studio made up of people who come from many developers who have made many AAA and critically acclaimed titles across the industry? ‘Their first game’ isn’t a very good excuse. They clearly didn’t do their research on why H1-3 were successful and why HR wasn’t, when making H4.
As Bungie said, Halo is ours. And this game’s current state is what happens when you make it for yourselves and not for us.
> Some people are just too ignorant to accept that 343 does listen.
Ignorant of what?
> I think Halo 4 will get better. Remember how crappy Halo 2 online was and then it took some TU’s to fix it?
Very true. Although most of the things Bungie fixed in H2 were not so much gameplay tweaks but outright bugs, and adding/improving the Banhammer.

Amen to that.
Also there are only maybe 10 people that previously worked at Bungie, so its not as if its a large number of them at 343i
Also, everyone has to remember that Halo 2 was the first online Halo, with the new Xbox LIVE, so obviously there were going to be a few issues.
Unfortuately 343i doesn’t have that excuse, they had more than enough information to tell what would have kept more people playing Halo…
Personally I think all that was needed was the promethean weapons, the Mantis and choice of AA dn primary weapon, would have been a bit of new, while retaining the old stuff that worked…

You have a lot of good points, but they lead me to ask a question: Will this new weapon balance hurt Halo 4’s population even more?
I’m not discussing the population, but it seems that the people who want the game to change have already left and don’t plan on coming back. So wouldn’t the changes they want push away the current population that enjoys things the way they are?
That’s a huge risk: if those people who wanted change don’t come back after pushing the loyal players away, I doubt the game will recover.
I’m sure 343i wants positive feedback, but they need stable players too. I fear people will get on, play one game, and say either, “Yep, I like what I see here, but I’ve got better games to play now,” or nit-pick at every minor flaw and create another backlash.
This is a very risky and delicate move that must succeed for the fate of Halo 4.
