I know 343i are delivering their own take on Halo 2 as well as the original experience, and are being 100% faithful to Halo:CE and Halo 4 as well, I believe weapon balance is fine in those games (and Halo 4 has too many major design problems to be competitive imo, but the weapon balance isn’t where the problem lies with the game)…But what about Halo 3?
Anyone who played Halo 3 will remember that everyone vetoed for BRs, it even became a common phrase, and the Halo 3 AR and magnum are the worst iterations of their respective weapons in the entire Halo franchise, the magnum is pretty much useless, and the AR is instantly thrown away for a BR, it sounds like a popcorn gun and neither weapon really creates interesting gameplay or really feels like they have a place in the game’s sandbox. The worst part is that they are starter weapons that you must use when you don’t have the BR, it just really dampens the experience for me and I’m wondering if others agree.
So do you think 343i should alter this? Should they tune the AR and magnum in Halo 3? Reskin them? Or simply make it so most Halo 3 playlists have BR starts? As I said I know they’re meant to be delivering a faithful remake of each game, but Halo 3’s AR and magnum are sooo disappointing when compared to other versions of the weapons in other games, their inefficiency is the reason people considered Halo 3 a BR dominated game, when it was otherwise pretty well balanced.
Opinions?
