Weapon Tuning #2: What do you want to see?

It has now been officially announced that in “Not the immediate future” we will be treated to Weapon Tuning update #2 for Halo 4!

Now, we all know the first weapon tuning update did a phenomenal job of giving us a better, brighter Halo 4, focusing mainly on the primary loadout weapons offered in the game, while also giving a buff to both the Magnum and the SAW, as well as an aim assist nerf to the Beam Rifle. So it’s more likely this update will primarily focus on Sidearms, Grenades, and Power Weapons, the less predominant caste of weapons in the game.

So I’d like to ask the community what you would like to see updated when WT2 hits matchmaking?

I have a few particular things I’d like to touch on for WT2:

Across the Board -

Descope added to ALL weapons

Bullet Magnetism radius reduction on the following weapons -

Assault Rifle
Battle Rifle
Designated Marksman Rifle!
Light Rifle
Sniper Rifle
Beam Rifle!
Scoped Binary Rifle
SAW
Railgun!
Shotgun
Fuel Rod Cannon!

Sticky Reticle intensity reduction on the following weapons -

Battle Rifle
Assault Rifle
Storm Rifle
Boltshot
SAW
Railgun
Shotgun

Specific Weapon Changes -

Suppressor : Increased projectile speed
Plasma Pistol : Slight damage buff, 3 shot shield drain, + 7 to kill
Scattershot : Increased damage per projectile, 1 less projectile hit to kill
Energy Sword : Slightly increased lunge range
Gravity Hammer : Increased area of effect damage, and force against vehicles
Sticky Detonator : Damage drop off curve tightened in blast radius, for consistency
Sniper Rifle AND Beam Rifle : Reticle shrunk to half of current size, to fit tightened bullet magnetism radius
Frag Grenade AND Plasma Grenade : Count reduced to 1 on spawn, 2 with Grenadier only

other than a suppressor buff and descope… i dont think i care…

boltshot primary fire mode needs a serious buff
it takes a full clip just to take down shields

-Two Pulse grenades as default
-Reduction to bloom on Suppressor
-Radius of Sticky Grenades kill range reduced
-Boltshot damage buff (10 to 9 SK)
-Another reduction in Aim Assist for Beam Rifle
-Slight reduction to Flood lunge range
-Bullet Magnetism reduction to all primary rifles and Pistol
-Bloom removed form DMR
-Slight damage buff to Sticky Det (same range just slightly bigger kill radius)
-Descope added to all weapons (never going to happen)
-Buff the consistency of the Scattershot
-Increase damage radius for Gravity Hammer
-Decrease Botshot kill range but keep current range of damage
-10% increase to the Ghost + Warthog + Banshee’s health
-15% decrease to Mantis health (just ridicules in CTF)
-Remove Flagnum O.O, go back to juggling mechanic
-Slight increase in aim assist for unscoped Light Rifle

I think that covers the majority of my wants

The Battle Rifle needs a nerf it needs to go back to the 5sk. I for one am sick and tired of being forced to use that over powered/utility weapon. Or buff the Carbine to 6sk and the DMR to 4sk.

-Reduce Plasma Grenade damage so they’re less effective against vehicles, but can still kill a player on foot if you land a stick.
-Remove homing feature from Plasma Pistol overcharge.
-Reduce Plasma Pistol EMP duration for all vehicles.
-Add headshot capability to Plasma Pistol’s primary fire.
-Buff Boltshot’s primary fire to 7-shot kill (at least).
-Reduce bloom & recoil for Boltshot’s primary fire.
-Apply 35% damage buff to the secondary Machine Gun and Plasma Cannon on the Scorpion and Wraith, respectively.
-Buff Magnum to 5-shot kill.
-Increase base number of Pulse Grenades in loadouts from 1 to 2.

I would also like to add;

The DMR little to no bullet magnetism not to mention no aim assist. Jeez buff the DMR instead of making it completely useless.

Remove 2 shoot beat down from BR

Tighten suppressor spread
Lower BR ROF
Lower all weapon magnetism
Increase Boltshot single shot kill to 9 shots for shields.
Lower Plasma grenades in loadout to one default
Increase Pulse grenade count in loadouts to 2 default, and 2 max.
Make BR 12 shot kill, instead of 11.

If you’re playing 4v4s that’s your problem. The DMR is perfectly balanced for BTB, it’s not MEANT to be taken on maps smaller than Complex.

Also, the DMR has the most “bullet magnetism” of every single loadout precision weapon except for the unscoped version of the LR. It doesn’t have any sticky reticle though.

It should also be noted that in terms of killtime or technical balance, the BR and Carbine are evenly matched. The problem is the BR’s “ease of use” and to remedy that the BR just needs it’s sticky reticle reduced.

I think the magnetism on the Beam Rifle needs to be addressed. That and a slightly slower cooldown time for the Storm Rifle.

There is lots I want. However the one thing I NEED, more than anything, they wont do in this title.

Descope.

Without it, I find midrange combat to be klunky and unplayable. Its just not fun for me. I’ll play reach and H3 in the meantime.

-Can’t be able to start off with plasma grenades, and start off with 2 pulse grenades
-Increase the power of the Bolt Shot’s semi automatic abilities
-Decrease the power of assault rifle!
-Make Suppresser hit scan (because half of it’s bullets don’t even register when you hit a target)
-Slightly increase projectile speed of Storm Rifle
-Slightly decrease the bullet magnetism for the Fuel Rod
-Slightly increase the damage of the Spartan Laser on personnel

With the regards to what OP was saying about the Plasma Pistol, I don’t think that 343i sould make it 3 shot shield drain because then wouldn’t it be 1 shot melee? I think keep it as a 4 shot shield drain and then 6 shots to the body with no shields to kill.

That will make the game just return to the problems it had before the first weapons update. Horrible idea.

The SAW is ridiculous since it got buffed with the other automatics. It needs to be dialed back.

Make it so that as soon as anyone pulls the trigger on the battle rifle everyone on the opposite team instantly falls over dead. I mean that’s practically what the last adjustments did…

It IS a power weapon, dial it back too much and you have an AR with a big clip… woohoo…

Im pretty sure they can’t modify how loadouts work without recalling the game… so thats a pretty big nope…

I’m assuming you got beaten in close range by one then… because personally i LOVE halo 4’s AR, its finally worth using instead of being something i need to discard ASAP

HOWEVER, i also see some i agree with

-12 shot kill BR (BR = pre-update DMR IMO)
-suppressor buff (i dont care how, just make it worth using!)
-boltshot single fire buff (give me a reason to use OTHER than blasting people at point blank)

still, overall, the amount of people asking them to change loadouts, i highly doubt they can actually do that. plus, if they go and ‘remove the boltshot from loadouts’ i for one would be pissed off, my ENG and PST skins will go to waste… one of which i PAID for (ENG) so i HIGHLY doubt thats happening in halo 4.

Just decrease the ROF of BR and decrease magnetism in the Beam Rifle.

And give Suppressor a slight damage buff.
