Weapon spawns in multiplayer

Okay, I know that we have an ordnance meter in infinity slayer that eventually rewards you with a power weapon etc, I know that weapons and grenades have markers above them so people can see them whilst playing the map, I also know that weapons have random spawn locations and times, as in there is no set place a sniper, for example, will spawn at specific intervals. Will it be like this in every playlist across matchmaking for Halo 4, or is it only in one specific playlist as I haven’t found a clear answer yet, cheers guys

It’s on every playlist and the weapons have a set spawn at the beginning of the match, after that then it because random. Plus it’s only in infinity slayer where you can earn PODs.
Here’s a link to the bulletin with pictures that better explain it.

I think weapons spawn regularly in default slayer and Infinity Slayer at the start of the match, then spawn on the map, in Infinity slayer as power weapons, or 3rd tier weapons. The PODs will come in as 2nd tier weapons, or what I call semi-power weapons(sticky detonator, needler, etc.). In default slayer, the same thing happens with power weapons, only they appear in more static locations along with 2nd tier weapons. The drops in normal slayer are dropped in set locations, but the weapons included in the drops are randomized and spawn at a sort of random time. Another differance between PODs and default slayer drops is that PODs spawn instantly and can only appear on the HUD of the person that calls them in, whereas the default slayer drops, most likely, spawn more slowly, are more well timed, and can be seen on the HUDs of everyone on the map briefly before and after they drop.

Why would the default power item system, have “semi-random” locations? I thought this was only in Infinity, now this is a problem.

Do they even know what they are doing to the game? 10 years of strategy and map control created by power items is now “semi-random”? You have got to be -Yoinking!- kidding me, this is not a good idea for default Halo. Its like making the Invasion drop system default, this must be a joke.

I think it might have been bad wording on my part, but I believe I meant that the locations of the spawns in default slayer is static, so you know where the weapons will drop, but you don’t know exactly what is included in the drops or when they will drop until shortly before they drop.

Its a random system nonetheless, this is outrageous if this semi-random system is spread across the whole default. The power item system is the backbone of Halo strategy and helps define “specialized roles”. How can you set up for a semi-random system? How can you assign “sniper” on the Pit when you dont know what or when its going to spawn there? How can you plan ahead between power item spawns, when you dont know when or what is going to drop? How is a semi-random system a more fair system?

This is a pvp shooter, not -Yoinking!- dice poker. With all this focus on “balance” why is the power item system now a -Yoinking!- dice roll? How is that balanced?

fingers crossed for good classic playlists

I’m tired of trying to explain it to you, you obviously don’t like the way the new default Halo is going, and I’ve explained it the best I can. The best thing to do now is wait to try it out. They are doing their best to make this a great Halo game despite all the new additions being “contradictory” to classic Halo gameplay. You can try it out at launch, and if you don’t like it, then you have 3 options:

  1. Play them anyway and deal with it. You never know, you might like it.

  2. Play the classic playlist.

  3. If you don’t like the classic playlist(s) or the default/Infinity playlists, then drop Halo 4 multiplayer entirely and play any other Halo game or any other game you find to be fun, balanced, and competitive.

Its contradictory because its BS, anyone with decent knowledge of the game can see that. Purposely implementing a random system in place of a perfectly balanced and fair one is pure stupidity, no other way to describe it. I dont see why they need to make it the default, if people want the different power item system they would just play Infinity game-types, why -Yoink- up default Halo 4?

Oh well…it looks like ranked playlists and classic for me where I can play HALO.

Yeah seriously they should have made all the weapon drop-spawn in set locations, then they could add one spawn which would drop random weapons. Hopefully power-ups are still in this game; it makes no sense why they were removed in Reach. They should have added new power-ups instead of armor-abilities and sprint.

Whatever. You may see it as BS, but I see it as a new take on the spawning system that’s been so well defined in previous Halo games. I agree that the older system is better for certain reasons, but I have yet to see how this one works and will at least try it out to see how it works before knocking it, unlike you.
