It should be possible to change the color of a weapon.
For example, you could make your Magnum gold.
It should be possible to change the damage of a weapon.
For example make your Magnum do 700% damage.
The damage modifier could be tied to different colors.
For example the gold Magnum could do 700% damage while the black Magnum does 70% damage.
This would allow more customizable classes to be built. The high powered Magnum could be one class’s primary weapon while the low powered Magnum could be a different class’s secondary weapon.
Movement speed and jump height should also be adjustable by class. This way the class with the Rocket Launcher would move slower than the class with a Plasma Pistol. The Plasma Pistol class may have a worse weapon but their high jump height allows them access to areas that other classes can not get to.
Great idea! The more customization the better! This would make Custom Games amazing! I would have a silver shotgun that had 2x, 10x, and 20x zoom, had longer range than a Spartan Laser, was perfectly accurate, and killed anything in one shot. The perfect overpowered noob weapon.

Customizable scopes. Good idea. I hadn’t thought of that. Combine that with the damage mods and you could have a low powered, scoped weapon or high powered weapon with no scope. Thanks.

I did it once in Halo: Custom Edition. My friend kept wondering what was happening to him when he suddenly dropped dead for no reason.
There would also have to be a “Damage Range” modifier. Say for example you wanted to throw a Sniper scope on the shotgun it would be useless unless the shotguns “Damage Range” was increased significantly.

I also think a silenced shotgun would be cool. Running around blasting people in the face, no one else knowing where you are. Or a silenced Energy Sword xD

“Noise Level” modifier:
0-9
5 is default (what the weapon normally sounds like)
6-9 is louder
1-4 is softer
0 is silenced
Now we are getting into it!
What about visual effects? The color of the Spartan Laser’s laser beam, the color of the smoke trails in the air from the Sniper Rifle, the color of the Rocket Launcher’s explosion could all be customized.

A black, silenced magnum with a 2x and 6x scope, no smoke trail obviously, the range of the DMR, and as strong as the Halo: CE pistol… omg <3

silenced Energy sword? How would this…I can’t.
Note: silenced shotgun tones the awesome of the shotgun down a little.

You know, no sword sound effects so it’s actually a silent, ninja weapon. And it has to be black. And not glowy. And the lunge has to be increased, and melee speed increased… Basically a black, solid version of the Halo 2 Energy Sword with no sound.
There could be an on-map Powerup that silences the player’s weapon or weapons. It could be permanent, until player dies, until the gun player is holding runs out of ammo, or on a timer like a standard Powerup. It could silence the weapon he was holding when he picked up the Powerup or any weapon he is holding during the duration of the Powerup.
There could be a gametype, say Team Rockets, where it would take 4 rockets to kill in the beginning. By either grabbing powerups or holding objectives, say holding a hill for 10 seconds, your Rocket Launcher would now only take three rockets to kill someone. When the hill moves, you hold it for another continuous 10 seconds, and now your Rocket Launcher only takes two rockets to kill.
Damage modification could be tied into the game like in the example above. In headhunter, the more skulls your are currently holding could increase your weapon’s damage. Another possibility is to give the player 1/5 overshield for each skull he is holding; 10 skulls equals 2x overshield.
Waypoints could also be incorporated into the game. Killing an enemy could place a waypoint over your head for a short duration. If you go on a killing spree the waypoint becomes permanent. If you go on a killing frenzy your shields no longer recharge until you kill someone. If you go on a running riot the opposing team gets overshields. Each reward/punishment could be customizable so you could set it to either hurt the person doing good (like I did) or help them by giving them rewards instead of punishments.
I like this idea but how would you represent the different abilities with the loadouts? (like if I see a loadout with a rocket launcher Id be like “oh cool I’ll chose that one” only to figure out I move slow and cant jump very high)

In the loadout box the guns are normally white. They could be changed to the skin color for weapon mods and show a scope with a number (2x,3x,4x) where appropriate.
For the movement speed and jump heights, I’m not sure on the best solution. I’m not sure if showing those characteristics in the loadout box would be too much info or too hard to understand. It would really be meant for custom games, like a Team Fortress 2 gametype, so the host could just explain or let them learn as they go. Maybe a red, yellow, green system? A green dot means they move faster, yellow is normal, red is slower. The same could go for jump heights, green is higher, yellow is normal, and red is low. Rather than dots, the Spartan’s (the little picture of him in the loadout box) feet color could show jump height and his arm color could show movement speed. Green feet and green arms means moves fast and jumps high. Good point though.
This thread is so messed up, also, I hope you are being sarcastic, if not, the game would be so messed up in matchmaking, I would attempt to sue for copying CoD. Though, the gun changing color when you pick it up would be sweet.

I like this way of explaining the jump heights and such.

To be honest with you, I already had the thought in my mind of having many guns in Halo 4, similar to Call of Duty World at War, but that is just “not Halo.” The standard weapon sandbox will not be affected by these custom modifiers but it will allows fans to create highly unique game types. Does anyone remember when SWAT or Zombies (Infection) were just community game types?
