If they want to stick to their system, that’s fine. But is that the right decision? Is it possible that weapon pads could, in the long run, prove to be a bad idea? It wouldn’t be the first time Halo as tried something new that did pan out the way the devs had hoped.
The weapons pads are new and they definitely help add variety to social, but the pads don’t rotate in Ranked. Functionally, Ranked is using the old system.

No, of course not. 343 makes terrible decisions all the time, but you have to know when they have committed to one.
Rotating weapon pads are horrible in general.

Just accepting that they’re committed to their system and they won’t change is not acceptable. Do you know that old saying “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.”? Well this is broke so fix it. Don’t just keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome. That’s the definition of stupidity.
When there is a problem point out the issue, citing examples and explaining how to resolve the issue. If that solution is directly opposed to their current system then do not just roll over and give up. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. Which means it needs fixed or changed. The current system is an example of it needing to be changed because it doesn’t work in its current iteration. The simplest solution would be to reduce the availability of The Mangler or to properly adjust its tier in the system to that of a shotgun instead of pairing it down to just being a pistol.

I mean at its core Halo infinite is more or less what I’ve been asking for since Halo 4. More classic core gameplay like that of Halo 2 or 3 with more advanced movement mechanics similar to 4 but not as extreme as 5. Infinite more or less feels like Halo 3 with modern improvements, but it’s not without it’s issues.
To be honest I think I had the most fun in a stripped down version of Halo 4 I usually played in custom games. Removing custom loadouts, reimplementing fair starts and either completely removing armor abilities or making them on map pickups to fight over just like power weapons. I made a slew of map remakes with forge in Halo 4 designed for this game type and me and my friends had a lot of fun playing them. It also helps that I was forge captain of a clan at the time so I had plenty of people to help test out the maps.

Thing is, since it’s a pistol, they’d put it in Tier I. So the problem would just… Kinda’ return? And if it was Tier II it’d just be a worse shotgun.
We have moved on past the need for the mauler, IMO.
Not really talking about the Mauler as a core weapon but just a variant. Basically it would only appear in Campaign / Custom Games / Social Playlists.

There really isn’t any need for it, but I personally like the idea of honouring classic weapons in this way.
Additionally, it just seems like a more balanced variant than the current “Riven Mangler” that fires 3 spikes at once which is too OP for balanced multiplayer gameplay in comparison to the Mauler which would essentially be a stronger Mangler at the expense of range.
By making this variant it basically just makes a worse Bulldog out of the Mangler and it wouldn’t be able to do the one thing that really helps the Mangler which is headshots.
True, but this would be a Tier 1 weapon unlike the Bulldog. It would be the only Tier 1 weapon with one-tap one-slap function (aside from the Plasma Pistol which requires a full charge).
It wouldn’t need headshot damage like the Mangler. The only advantage to having the Mangler over the Mauler would be range.
