Many of you are hoping for a return to a more simple type of gameplay. Now, if you’ve played one competitive game of Halo 3, 2, or even CE, you’d know that controlling the power weapons is the most important key to victory. However, simply collecting them at the beginning of the match was just half the battle. Once your team collected and used up the power weapons, care had to be taken to recollect them as soon as they respawned. This was done in various ways, depending on the spawn mechanics of each game (In some games, the spawn timer would start as soon as the weapon was picked up. In others, it wouldn’t start until the weapon was used up and discarded).
Now, seasoned players would develop strategies to recollect the weapons. A few well known strategies included: using the in-game timer to note when you picked the weapon up and when it would respawn; or holding an empty rocket launcher or sniper until your team was in position to recollect it from the spawn point.
With ATLAS being made to make spawn locations more apparent, I’m wondering if 343 is going to continue on in that direction in Halo 4.
And here’s the reason I made this thread: Do you want 343 to make spawn mechanics obvious to everyone?
I’m not sure how exactly they would do it, but a few ideas come to mind:
-Little count down timers being added to the HUD
-Silhouettes of weapons would be left behind after they were picked up
-Simple visual indicators being placed above spawns to let players know how much longer until the weapon would be back. Like, a little loading bar or a stopwatch-esque thing.
You get the idea. Would you support the addition of such features? Or would that further blur the line between casual and hardcore players?
