Weapon Proficiency Medals vs Commendations

I was looking over my Service Record and scrolled down to the Weapon Proficiency Medals. I noticed that I didn’t have any Binary Kill Medals, which have the descriptions “Kill and Opponent Using a Binary Rife.” I thought that was odd, because I know that I’ve gotten a fair number of kills with the Binary Rifle. Maybe not a lot, as it isn’t a weapon you frequently see anywhere but a couple BtB, but I can remember disintegrating Spartans with it. I also noticed that a lot of my other Medals seemed low, like there is no way I’ve only gotten 3 kills with the Sniper Rifle or Hydra for example. Those are weapons I use a lot more.

So I mosey over to the Commendations page on my Service Record and take a look at the Weapon Commendations and sure enough, they don’t match up. I mean again, these aren’t weapons I feel like I use a lot and I rarely Req in Warzone, but the Commendations page says I just hit level 3 with the Binary Rifle, am 10 kills into level 4 with the Hydra Launcher and am 4 kills into level 5 with the Sniper to use the examples above.

So what gives? Am I misunderstanding how medals work? Are the weapon medals only for Warzone or something? That might make more sense since I don’t use Reqs a lot. Anyone know how the weapon medals work?

I’m pretty sure that they register for both Arena and Warzone.

So what’s going on then? A quick glance at your medals and commendations shows the same sort of discrepancy. Either it is broken or I am misunderstanding how one earns weapon medals.

Weapon specific Medals don’t seem to register in Arena, only Warzone

I have the Sniper Rifle Commendation maxed out but don’t have a single Sniper Rifle Medal as I got them all in a Shotty Snipers weeked

I had asked a similar question too. Apparently the medals only register in Warzone. Pretty lame if you ask me.

Arena weapon kills do count toward commendations, I finished my rocket launcher commendation during the first ffa rockets weekend. The discrepancy could be do to assists vs actual kills.

Yeah, the question is whether you can get weapon medals in arena, not commendations

That’s a shame if wep medals only count from Warzone

I think medals for specific weapon kills only show in warzone as stated. They don’t apply in arena since they are clsssified just as power weapons.

Example, you get a binary rifle kill medal in warzone but just sniper head shot kill medal in arena.
