Weapon Lowering

This was an idea I came up with for weapon lowering. The Reason Weapon Lowering wasn’t in Match Making was because we were afraid that there would be another button combo like BXR. This is a solution doesn’t require annoying complicated button combos but rather let the game do it itself. This is something I call Automatic Weapon lowering. The Idea is by default your weapon is automatically lowered such as when you span or when you running around the map. Now this is all aesthetic so it cannot affect gameplay. There are four ways of raising your weapon. The first way is just shooting, this will instantly raise your weapon with an animation. After a few seconds after you stop shooting your weapon will re-lower. The Next way is if an enemy is in your reticule and it becomes red. If you didn’t immediately start shooting a short animation will show you aiming your weapon up. The next way is scoping in an it will raise your weapon with the same animation as before and if the player shoots during the animation then the weapon instantly shoot like it did before. The last way is by walking really slowly as if your checking your corners and making sure the room is safe. By the way when the weapon is lowered it will appear in a lowered form instead of it just vanishing off your screen and also both the player and other players will see each others and there own weapons lowered.

If you have any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism it will be greatly accepted. Thanks for your support and remember to ask a question instead of just assuming things!

It could just be simple . . . like Halo 2’s. Press D-pad down and done, it was the easiest game to do it in. I don’t see how that could promote a button combo though.

In one of Bungie’s Weekly updates they were talking about how a button combo could emerge from having it in Online Multiplayer. But this idea requires no button combos. You don’t even have to think about. It just works.

Yes, but weapons down is mainly a Machinima deal, and there is one large flaw with your main post. Most the time in machinima’s players will be different colors, or different shades of the same color (RvB). The only way to do this is in free for all. If your gun instantly raises when you spot an enemy it would ruin that for most machinima’s.

Back to my original idea, a button combo would NOT come out of it. Pressing the D-pad down would have a player start lowering their weapon, but the player cannot do anything until the animation is finished, therefore a BXB or BXR type combo could not be performed, even though I believe there are a few players who would like those back.

Thanks for your Feedback but for some reason bungie hasn’t implemented this in to Halo 3 or reach. Maybe its for a good reason but if not then they should have your idea with the D-pad with my idea put together subtract the part where your weapon raises when you aim at some body but in Halo 4 they should and a new option in the settings where it says forced color one of the options should be Player color so no matter what Team there on they will be there own color.

Haha I aim to please. I like your last option there though, if players could be on a team but keep their custom colors that would be awesome. It could work like in the lobby you choose red or blue but in game you keep your colors.

I’d be all for our idea’s combined too. You have to manually put your weapon down but it automatically raises in a few situations, just not when you spot an enemy.

You can lower it in Reach but only in a local lobby.
