Shotguns

  • CQS48 Bulldog (UNSC)

Snipers

  • S7 Sniper (UNSC)
  • Shock Rifle (Banished) (Could also be a Regular Rifle, seen people classify it as such, I do not)
  • Stalker Rifle (Banished)

  • Hydra (UNSC)
  • Cindershot (Banished)
  • Rocket Launcher (UNSC)

SMGs

  • Needler (Banished)

OK, now to the rest of my own personal thoughts. I posted about some of this before, but I wanted to have the list here.
So, after the last 2 flights, all I can say is WOW, everything preforms well, feels nice, sounds nice, fun to use, I had a grand time!
BUT… there is a Lack in UNSC weapons… and if you want to compare to Halos biggest selling rivals CoD, Battlefield or even Destiny… dare we say that name…
I think they could do well with adding a few more tools of killing into the game.
There are not LMG class weapons, bring back the LMG from Halo 4/5 - you brought back the Hydra…
A DMR would be nice to see, as well as perhaps a Covenant Carbine, could make it red and shoot purple shots instead of purple and green ammo
For jackal snipers… a beam rifle might be nice too… something familiar but not the Halo 5 model, the Halo 2 model was better… (my opinions here)
the SMG and SSMG would be nice to see, give us some more UNSC Tools to use. I honestly prefer UNSC tools, I like the Banished/Covenant weapons, but I just like the UNSC look and feel more… A magnum or the suppressed one from ODST would be cool to see too

Basically, my biggest gripe right now, is the arsenal feels small, I mean 22 weapons is not small, but most are Banished Weapons
and most feel like Big Guns, WHICH YES… they are fun to use, but I would like to see more “Middle Ground” weapons.
Things like the Spiker, Needle Rifle, DMR, SSMG, Magnum, or the Carbine or even Plasma Rifle or Plasma Repeater… something Rifle or SMG class.
But, I do like what I have seen so far, everything is pretty awesome. Glad I bought the campaign… HOPEFULLY it comes with more PvE content later… and some Pre-Order Bonuses… but I will wait and see.

Pretty sure both Cindershot and Heatwave are forerunner weapons.

Heatwave should also be labeled as a shotgun.

I’ve been thinking about this too. I appreciate the new weapons, and I wonder if their logic was that they could always add in more weapons later, but best to start off with new things then add the old. My only concern is how that might factor into the campaign (I would hope that I could get those older weapons in the campaign.)

I was mostly just thinking about UNSC weapons, but I created this dock while I should’ve been doing something more productive:

There are quite a few weapons that it would be nice to get back, for me key among them are the DMR, Shotgun, SMG, and Magnum.

The mangler is not an SMG. It has a slow fire rate and does a three shot kill. Not that we need labels for these weapons anyway.

It’s basically the Mauler from H3, but the brutes put Slug rounds in it instead of Buckshot.

The projectile velocity is so slow you’ll have trouble downing moving enemies beyond 40m. Heavy bullet drop.

The stalker rifle is more of a DMR/Light Rifle type weapon than a sniper btw, so I’d reclassify it.

You can also definitely tweak a couple of classifications. The Ravager for example is a launcher, as is the Heatwave believe it or not (though I’d still consider it a shotty do with it as you will).

Also the Mangler isn’t fast firing. It’s a hand cannon through and through. It’s practically a reskin of the CE Magnum lol.

The Sentinel Beam might as well be a Rifle or SMG. That would leave the Sword and Hammer which you could just call “Melee”

As for “missing” weapons, 343 is trying their hearts out to avoid functional overlaps between weapons. So they want weapons to have an entirely unique gameplay feel. Notice how nothing in the game plays anything like the BR, that’s because the DMR, Carbine, Needle Rifle, and Light Rifle were cut in purpose. If they came back people would want them relatively unchanged and we’d just have BR clones again. The Commando and BR on the other hand feel nothing alike. They act like completely unique weapons to one another and that was the goal. The Stalker far as I can tell from the brief gameplay we’ve seen also doesn’t feel like a BR in any way. Which is why I don’t see any of these weapons returning. Even the two most similar weapons in the game right now, the Shock Rifle and the Sniper, have pretty distinct gameplay feels due to the “5 shot burst” nature of the Shock Rifle.

What I could see come back are things like the sticky detonator, flamethrower, and splinter turret. Since they are all weapons that have very little in common with other current sandbox options. An argument could be made for the classic shotgun as well but honestly it was hard enough for them to separate the sword and hammer more unique weapons. If the classic shotgun came back it would have to behave differently enough from the sword, that’s to say it couldn’t just be “press RT when within the right range to instantly one hit kill a single target.” That’s why they made the Bulldog in the first place, so this game’s shotgun could be more about putting several chunky hits in a mid range target, which is quite different from what a sword or hammer can do.

Great post. I enjoy most of the weapons in this game but I’m definitely missing some as well

SAW
Spartan laser
Alien combine
Alien sniper

These along with some others could integrate into the game well especially since they have included ordinances on BTB
