Weapon Kits/Loadouts!

Weapons Kits -

Okay I’ve had this idea brewing in my mind for a while now and I see a lot of people wanting a load out system like COD in Halo, but this simply would not fit at all. Why you ask? Simple my dear Watson, if I can spawn with shotty/sniper, it just wouldn’t be fair.

Now here is my idea, which I think would improve Halo and give each weapon more depth along with playing style for each individual. So far I call it the weapon kit system, basically every weapon in the game can have a weapon kit attach to it. A weapon kit will give you a selections of modifications you can attach to a weapon, two per weapon only. Now to balance it out you can only select two weapon kits to bring with you into battle, you would select which kits your taking while in the lobby.

If your still reading and not typing me a hate message so far that’s great, keep reading. Now lets say I have my shotgun and assault rifle weapon kits as I get ready for this match, I of course start with an assault rifle (If it’s anything like previous Halo’s), the kit will not be attached until I equip it using some button (Lets say left on the dpad for kit 1 and right for kit 2), it will take a bit to attach (Like 7-9 seconds). The time to attach is of course to create balance mostly.

Example:

Assault rifle kit:

Modification 1 - Long barrel: Increases accuracy but lowers fire rate.

Modification 2 - Longer Clip: Gives you 15 extra bullets per but slows reload time.

Note: All modifications will have a pro and con, this is to simply keep balance with in the game.

Now, I attach this to my assault rifle and move on. I’m playing and then I die by a camper, they then take my gun which will keep the kit attached on it until another player puts there kit on the gun. I don’t have all the kits thought out all the way, but you get the point.

Keep in mind, no modification will increase the players ability in any way, just simply how the weapons they use function. They could be made that way but this is not what I had intended them for.

Well that’s it I guess. I think this is the best approach to keep Halo well, Halo in a way and appease to older fans of the series while also tending to the newer audience of shooter fans. Weapons would stay placed on the map but it would push Halo forward with a new style of game play and bring different players in which is a good thing to me. I know a lot of people will hate on this because they think Halo should be exactly like the original one and never ever change, but innovation is necessary in the end and it’s going to happen regardless, I just hope it’s done right by 343.

Thank you for reading everyone, now lets hear some opinions I guess :/…

Nou.

I read the first 2 lines.

Well if you read like a sentence further you would see I also say that wouldn’t work.

On a more serious note, I like the weapon attachment idea, but I think we should severely limit the selection to a few basic items, such as a suppressor, flashlight, or grip. But even the grip sounds too COD-like, so I don’t know. I would have to consider this for a while…

The response would be the same, I assure you.

While you have a point, I don’t think being similar to the most popular FPS shooter on the market is a bad thing (Even if it is garbage). I was aiming for things you wouldn’t normally have in a Modern shooter to be the attachments with some that are, this is Halo…the future…maybe they have cooler things to attach to guns.

Examples Below:

Energy Stabilizer: This would be equipped to plasma pistols and it would make the energy drain on it less, but lower the distance of the shot.

Okay…when I put examples I had the intention of writing a few down…but I’m failing right now and I can’t think of any O.o. My point being though, the attachments could be something that isn’t possible in a Modern Shooter because this is the Halo universe, the have light sabers basically.

OP, this is just a gimmick and gimmicks don’t belong in competitive shooters.

This post just makes me laugh.

I would prefer if we just went back to everyone starting with the same stuff. It was far more enjoyable.

no everyone starts equal, keep CoD out of halo

Man, I -Yoinking!- hate Call of Duty. Wish that trash was never created, then Reach wouldn’t have been a gimmick of that game.

Oh well, poor game design + plus poor game management = failure.

I prefer the classic Halo style where everyone starts of on even ground. You’re not worrying about what the other players spawned with but rather how you’re going to control the map and how you’re going to control the weapons.

Edit: Also, in games where you pick your attachments etc. you tend to keep the gun until you die. In Halo you’re supposed to swap your Assault Rifle out for a better gun.
