Weapon ideas

First I wanna start with those great weapons that got removed/nerfed for no exact reason:
1:smg
2:dual wielding
3:halo 3 spartan laser
4:halo 2 energy sword
5:brute shot
6:spiker
7:focus rifle
8:firebombs
9:spike grenades
10:flamethrower
11:missile pod
12:plasma repeater replacing plasma rifle/storm rifle
13:mauler that actually stuns other players
14:halo 3 armour abilities
Now my ideas for new weapons:
1:being able to switch weapons while dual wielding without dropping your left weapon there was a spartan in halo wars that did this and MC is the best so he can do it too.
2:C4
3:Flameshot, a shotgun with flaming shells but is very rare, has very little ammo, and is not accurate at all
4:plasma buster, kind of like the fuel rod cannon but uses energy and travels slightly faster.
5:cheif blade, a sword heavily modified by master cheif to his liking only in campaign as a unlockable weapon to spawn in with with all this cool stuff on it like peircing any armour and a built in rocket launcher by finding parts to it scattered throughout the levels.
6:custom weapons, you will be able to find materials to upgrade weapons and renaming them as well, maybe give them a different design or an extended clip. Ex: sharpen a brute shot for more melee damage and name it Knifle. I think only renaming weapons or giving them a new design would work for multiplayer.

If someone dual wields in the story, it doesn’t mean that it has to be in multiplayer/matchmaking. And it doesn’t mean that other characters don’t know how to hold two weapons at the same time.

I think they should decrease the amount of weapons in the game. Halo 4 already has a problem with too many rifles and overpowered guns.

Honestly? Sounds like something out of a bad anime rather than Halo.

Sorry, man. Nothing else in your list is all that appealing, besides bringing back some of the older weapons.

I think 343 should add a Forerunner gravity hammer in Halo 5. Who wouldn’t love a hammer that disintegrates people? Anyways, OP, I’m not sure about all your ideas, but I wouldn’t mind seeing 343 bring back some older weapons. However, I would like to see a different shotgun, and your idea for a Flameshot sounds cool.

Not to say I can’t appreciate a good 'ole gunsword, but there is a line were you cross over from awesomeness into satire…

People talk about plasma, but I think Needler blamite would work better.

Needle shotgun and Needle grenade. Needle grenade could replace plasma grenade in the loadouts.

And heavy needler and needle pistol, along with the return if the needle rifle! Perhaps we could throw in the blamite energy cutlass as well?

I want more unique weapons, a la Reach. The H4 sandbox was too focused on parity between weapon types and it lost a lot of the originality, creativity, and excitement that Halo typically brought to the FPS genre.

Prime examples:

Grenade Launcher. Difficult to accurately aim, used unique controls, was versatile against infantry and vehicles without being overpowered against both… Halo 4 retired it and gave us the Sticky Detonator, an overall inferior and less exciting offering (the only trait it inherited was the delayed detonation).

Plasma Launcher. Required constant target lock, advanced planning (those projectiles don’t track around obstacles), had unique and versatile charge/load. Lethal against infantry and vehicles but it’s steep learning curve prevented it from being abused in anything but expert hands. Halo 4 retired it and offered us… simpleton power weapons galore. :frowning:

Focus Rifle. Provided heavy damage in a short amount of time, was very demoralizing for those on the receiving end. All those Pros countered by the very obvious Cons – your position was obvious to everyone on the map, forcing you to exercise caution when using. Also, you needed to maintain contact with your target Halo 4 retired it, but at least the Binary Rifle inherited the trait of giving away your position to everyone on the map. The 1SK aspect was a step in the wrong direction, unfortunately.

i was thinking more of a plasma shotgun with a charge ability similar to the plasma pistol. when you charge it fully it can take out 2-3 players at once with a major cool down or some sort of penalty.

It’s just that when I think “shotgun” I also think “projectiles”.

Click the “menu” button under someone else’s post, then “quote”. Alternatively, you can set up a quote manually by typing “{quote=username here} text here {/quote}”. Just replace the “{ }'s” with “'s”.

I don’t think the problem is that it had too many, rather, I think the problem was that too many felt like the same thing with different effects, mainly the Promethean weapons. Lightrifle was basically the BR, only difference being that it becomes like a DMR when zoomed-in. Suppressor may as well have been the SAW, with greater spread. Incineration Cannon? Rocket Launcher with a bit more splash damage. Scattershot? Shotgun with ammo that bounces a bit. None of the weapons felt truly unique and original, they just felt like re-skinned versions of current weapons.

Give me a needle pistol and a decent beam weapon and I will be a very happy man.

Personally, I think we have enough shotguns. The Scattershot is better than the UNSC shotgun…
