I just played arena for the entire session this afternoon. Absolutely 0 BR spawns. Why? 4 hours not a single 1. I think the settings should be BR star and the AR goes in the weapon holders ( it is a power weapon in its current state)

I agree. Half the skill in Halo is memorising weapon spawns, this rewards players who are paying attention and who have taken the time to understand a maps layout. Randomising this is taking away a key aspect of the game.
Some might say this is just for the beta, but we should always assume that if it is in the game, it will be staying and so should call it out when we see it just in case.

Yeah if I knew a certain weapon spawned in said case and Im looking for a different one i wouldnt go there Id go to the one with the weapon i wanted. It being random has us running around using guns we dont really want to use
I found that its when it comes to weapon spawns on arena (for the BR anyway) it always kept swapping between Commando and the BR, also in some maps there was a switch between the Heatwave and the Bulldog. By observation it was:
BR | Heatwave or Commando | Bulldog
But I agree, I hope they keep it as either the BR or Commando and not just randomly switching every time you played the map. But maybe it was just for the flight because they wanted players to test out weapons

No you’re right, that’s exactly how it worked. So it was always either a BR or a Commando. I have absolutely zero issue with this type of approach either. Keeps the games a bit more spicy. Although I don’t like the Sniper/Skewer being interchangeable. On Live Fire it would be much more fun to have rockets where the Sniper spawns and make the map more exciting. The Sniper/Skewer feels awful to use on Live Fire.

Yeah with you on that one mate and I reckon they should keep the power weapons/ power ups the same.

Is it random though? I think the way it worked is during any one match every weapon holder would spawn with a certain class of weapon. That weapon would stay in the holder for the entirety of the match. On top of that, there was only three class of weapon that would change from match to match those being the Br/Commando, Heatwave/shotgun and Sniper/skewer. All weapons those weapons serve a similar role. So you can go to a specific weapon spawn and know you will be getting a precision weapon or a shotgun. I think this is meant to keep the games fresh and allow them to implement new weapons down the line on old maps. I kinda liked this system especially for social games and see what they are going for. I do agree though that some weapons in the sandbox need more balancing so the system works as intended. Nerfing the ARs effective range I think would help.

Yeah I agree about the power weapons and power ups, I know rockets is always the same on Bazaar. Overshield and Camo always swap which I can’t say I’m a huge fan of, but it’s not game breaking it still works, I just don’t like it personally.
Just find it strange that they consider the Skewer and Sniper comparable. On Behemoth the Skewer is very good for taking down vehicles and could be used to get some really cheeky clutch kills across the map. The Sniper however isn’t anywhere near as effective Vs the vehicles and will really slow down a game.
I am also with Ken2379. I am okay with the switching of the BR and Commando but more powerful weapons like the Sniper/Skewer seemed like a letdown. In the back of my mind, I thought this was just something 343i wanted to do during the flight but I can see issues with the switching of weapons if its there when the game launches.
Personally, I think they should have both the Camo and the Overshield on maps so we have options to use both. Similar to how some of the older maps were like.

Yeah you got it right. Not truly random but separated by similar weapons (either by type or power level or both).
The ones I can remember are:
- BR/Commando
- pulse carbine/Plasma pistol
- sniper/skewer
- heatwave/bulldog
- plasma / spike grenades
- active camo/overshield
So if you see a commando spawn in 1 spot you know it’s going to spawn a commando the whole game. And you also know that either the commando or the BR will spawn there the next game.
I think for social playlists and the general game this kind of spawning will be fine. It introduces enough variety into each match to keep it interesting without being fully random like in halo 4. For competitive I imagine maps will be just a bit more curated, a BR spawn will always have a BR for instance.
Agreed. The randomness of the weapon spawns is bad. And it seems like a feature they designed in to the game with the weird cabinets they spawn in. Weapon spawns and placement need to be set. Changing and tweaking as part of sandbox balancing along the way is one thing, but having them change and flip flop from one match to the next is crap.
I got the sense weapon spawns during each play session were rotated. So one session I played certain maps only had BRs, and the session the next day would only have Commandos. I certainly hope it’s random each game for launch. But I got the sense during the flight that it was fixed based on the play session.

Yeah i played an entire session in 4v4 and didnt see one BR. Commando is weighted way to high for its likelihood to spawn
I actually like the diversity the different sets bring, in arena combat the BR & Commando have a similar power level so it doesn’t impact the match. For BTB I’d rather have a fixed set that better covers all bases. Really odd for example that skewer/sniper is based on a weapon set seeing they are impacting the game very differently in BTB.
I do think that the power weapons and power ups should be coupled more complimentary.
For example I’d like the Sniper to spawn with the camouflage (so one team has the power position from range and the other has the possibility to safely close that gap) and the SPKR should be coupled with the overshield (to provide a chance to engage the player that holds the rocket).
Concerning Live Fire it would be a great idea to swap the Skewer with the SPKR!
