Ok some people got the idea the weapon drops for power weapons were going to be random (which is true) but unmarked on the map.
Rocket Launcher weapon drop
Your welcome.
“Somebody already did this and it is indeed the weapon drop icon for power weapons. The searchbar is your buddy.”

thank you
Telegraphed weapon spawn positions to everyone on all the teams? Oh no… Oh dear no…
Not sure how this will work out only time will tell.

It already happens on Invasion Slayer. Except it’s not random.
In Halo 4 it’s going to be random. I’m sure the icon will disappear once it’s grabbed and give the other team a bit of a heads up.
Just to clarify, weapon spawning is not completely random. Weapons will spawn at set intervals at a couple of set locations in a particular order (I’m holding off on saying the order will be 1,2,3,1… because I heard that secondhand due to it being posted on another forum. Probably the most likely senario, however).

That would actually be good. if its predictable then the “skilled players” can make a guess as to what area it will spawn in next and try to get there first. Its no longer truly random, so its less "good friendly: as so many on the forum seem to scream. I do think the order might be quasi random though. there is still some guessing involved, but its not as bad as some seem to think.
I’m not impressed. This totally takes away elements of controlling power weapons
If you were good enough you kept the enemy team in total confusion as to when they spawn, but now they’ll always know?
random weapon drops are not halo. i hate you all.

I thought we were friends ;~;

To me it makes sense. This way Halo will be more about power than ever before. I just hope the weapons drop in good areas that don’t effect flow (like right on the side of the map).
I find it depressing that the more experienced players are complaining about the “random” weapon drops.
It evens the battlefield a bit more so that newer players have just as much chance to get the more powerful weapons as the players that have been playing a bit longer.
I got an Xbox about a month ago (with Halo: Reach included free) and for most of that time I have found that when a game loads the players who have played longer have ran for the power weapon of choice and then dominated the battlefield, I mean sure they die but only by the hands of players with other power weapons and so for the other players who have no idea where these power weapons are we just get killed over and over again and if we get lucky we’ll be able to kill the “power players” and be able to get their weapon (which by that point will have next to no ammo).
But now with the “random” weapon drops it evens the battlefield a bit and gives the less experienced players a chance.
My brother actually quit Reach Matchmaking because he just kept dying and dying over and over again which I think might be one of reasons for 343i adding this feature, to make multiplayer more friendly for newer players to keep them coming back for more.
Sure it has it’s downsides but I personally think it’s for the better.

I play a map in match making I’ve never played before.
I see a guy using a power weapon.
I do one of two things;
I go into replay/forge/customgame and load up the map/replay and find the power weapon.
I take educated guesses in future games as to the location of power weapons by observing where players usually are when I first spot them with power weapons.
People who play longer should be better, the same way it is in anything. Tell me what’s stopping you or your brother putting in the effort to learn?

I used ATLAS
I think users feel they shouldn’t have to learn the maps weapon spawns as they just want to shoot other players and whatnot, and I think from 343i’s perspective they wanted to make multiplayer fairer for everyone so no one could get the upper hand if you catch my drift. I’m not trying to make excuses for 343i but I can however see why they’d do stuff like this.
I like this feature. It focuses the action to one part of the map so now you must actually fight (and MOVE) constantly to get those weapons before your enemy. In previous games it was more like get power weapon (usually rocket launcher because it is easier to use than sniper rifle) and then camp at the same spot/small area to prevent enemy from ever reaching it.
ONLY time will tell how it all plays out…
Maybe more info is needed befor we all HATE the game OR LOVE THE GAME
