Weapon Despawns

I love the game. Can’t get enough of Warzone. But has anyone had an issue with spawning in a sniper rifle (6 energy), getting sniped as soon as you spawn do to the game placing you somewhere nowhere near the base you clicked on, respawning, running over to where you were…and only see 2 grenades next your your dead body?

It literally had been 12 seconds of where I was, died, and ran back to it. Gone.

This is highly frustrating.

I think it has something to do with the lighting system on weapons, weapons will despawn if no one is looking at them for a few seconds I believe.

Yes!! It is annoying as -Yoink-!

especislly in the campaign lol. You can not run back and search for ammo anymore if you don’t have anything left to shoot. That sucks alot

Yes! It would be great if they could fix this! I spawned with a sniper, left my base and immediately got betrayed (accidentally) by my teammate in a ghost. When I went back it was gone. Really annoying and hopefully it gets fixed.

I’ve had power weapons disappear infront of my eyes…

Omg! That happened to me too! I spawned with a sniper. And was jumping out into the vehicle lane on the base to get a headshot and boom. My teammate boosted in a wraith behind me. Lol. Spawned in the base, 2 feet from where I died…to grenades rolling next to my body…

The struggle is real.

Maybe it has something to do with their micro transaction scheme.

Step 1: If you cant run back to your req weapon, you’ll use another card.
Step 2: If you run out of cards, you buy more.
Step 3:???
Step 4: PROFIT!!

It’s built so that you can’t go back and pick up your weapon if you die with it. Its either a mechanic or a bug, but other people can still see and grab the weapon. Try getting a friend to fetch it until you can get back.

See I tried that. I play with my wife and I died right next to her. She avenged me in less than 6 seconds and started running to my body only to have my guns despawn the moment she gets there.

The problem is, if the weapons should lie there for eternity, Warzone would turn into the biggest -Yoink- fest after about 12 minutes, where people have their rank 6/7 reqs.

They don’t despawn in Arena. That’s all that matters.

disagree, and thats mainly because in arena you don’t use reqs and you don’t feel the pain of losing a good req. aside from that, the weapons spawn on the map so it is only logical they stay there (for a longer period of time before despawning)

and probably cause the maps are smaller with fewer players wich is less taxing on the system

Honestly, Halo 2 and 3 had the perfect amount of time before a weapon despawned. If you died with a Sniper Rifle, it would stay on the ground for you or anyone else to pick up for about 30 to 45 seconds. This was more than enough time to run back and pick up a weapon or kill an enemy and pick theirs up. It is very frustrating in Halo 5 to not be able to go and pick back up my weapon. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve said, “Well, that was a waste of a Railgun” because I spawned, died, and went to go get it back and it was gone. Sometimes even enemies weapons will disappear before I can get to them where I’ll kill a guy with a Fuel Rod and then have to fight off another guy or two before I can run up and grab the Fuel Rod only to find it had already despawned.

While I think the reason for this is because Halo 5 is much more fast paced and probably graphics intensive, in order to maintain 60fps, they need to keep the clutter off the map so that everything is rendering out properly at a steady pace. A “simple” solution to this problem though would be to have load-out weapons despawn at the rate they do now as those are the most common things to be found on the battlefield and there are going to be a lot of them, but give REQ weapons and vehicles that 30-45 second despawn rate.

Just food for thought

And she watched your Req disappear before she could get there? I thought maybe it disappeared for your whole team but this sounds worse than halo 4. I know that I’ve watched a teammate die before with a sniper. When he came back, he was wondering where it was because he couldn’t see it. I picked it up and dropped it. Seemed stupid but it suddenly appeared. Most of the time though, it is just gone as you describe.

Despawns should definitely be on a timer. I mean, there are times I’ve spawned with power weapons, died, respawned and got to where I died in little as 12-15 seconds…already despawned…

25 second despawn would be pretty fair in my opinion. 10 seconds for the respawn, 15 seconds to get to the weapon or it despawns.

My issue is the out of bounds barrier affecting the power weapons. If a power weapons flies out above the kill barrier it immediately de-spawns leaving very limited options for the combat evolved medal not to mention skill plays that could put a curve on how weapon pushes can be done.

Post-Patch Halo 2 had great despawn timing for weapons. Unfortunately, pre-patch Halo 2 had a really big problem with weapons despawning almost instantly after the player died.

It’s really weird how Bungie didn’t leave 343 notes that this was a problem they fixed ages ago in a different game.

Cannot agree more. Incredibly fristrating.

weapons have despawned on me from 10 meters from pick up as soon as it dropped

Doesn’t happen in Arena, my guess, too many weapons on map in Warzone, so it has to despawn some. Eh, never liked warzone anyways.
