Weapon Despawn

One thing I have noticed since I have been playing Infinity/Infinity BTB is the time that it takes for a weapon to despawn.

Let’s say I get an ordnance and select a Binary Rifle.I will get killed and go back to find it gone. I could be wrong (Maybe people often pick up power weapons on the floor) but I am guessing the weapons despawn after a short period of time. Can someone tell me the despawn times?

Yeah, I’m guessing it’s to keep the frame rate at a decent level.

Yes it does despawn… i guess it to keep fair in a way…such as one man having a constant power weapon throughout the game…now its one power weapon till you die

everybody stand the hell back! I’m going to be constructive.

in all other games except 4, weapons took 40 seconds to despawn*.
in this halo, it takes the weapon 12 seconds to despawn*.

*if said weapon is being seen by a player (model is visible), then it will not despawn.

@themachoz0rgy That’s exactly what I wanted thank you :slight_smile:

I’ve run up to weapons and had them despawn just as my “Hold X to pick up” popped up.

The Despawn is something really -Yoink!- in Halo 4. Even if it’s really fast (I think something about instant despawn if there is noone around it) I can accept in MP to prevent from power weapons to be over used. But in the campaign it’s something really annoying!

In all Halo campaigns to complete at Legendary it’s known to safe power weapons picking the ones you find around for the small enemies, but it’s impossible as your weapons despawn almost instantly while you play it. Without talking about the fact that as weapons despawn you always risk to be ammoless…

Me too… even though it makes sense from a power weapon point of view, it’s sucks balls if I’m out of ammo trying to get more from a corpse I know was using the same gun as me.

this is a huge problem for me.
the time needs to be more. i want to go back to my spot and find the weapon again.

Yeah, the amount of time it stays on the map after you’re killed is really quick. If you were on the other side of a large map, and you were killed, forget about the weapon. It seems like it disappears in less than 10 seconds.

This. I don’t think I’ve ever juggled weapons as much as I have in this game.

If this is the case, why on earth did 343 say, “Hey, the old number worked well. Let’s cut it by 75%”. That’s a huge difference.

In the campaign (and Spartan Ops), I don’t even see why you’d ever despawn a weapon, other than hitting a hardware limitation. (and I know, at least on Halo 2, that if you interacted with a weapon it would never despawn, so if they could pull that off on the original Xbox, why not this one?)

I’ve seen weapons despawn as soon as they were dropped. I think there’s like a despawn sweep that goes through like every 30 seconds. I just know that weapons despawn annoyingly fast.

Ahh i remember the days playing Halo CE. Truth and Reconciliation on Legendary. I stockpiled probabally 20-30 plasma pistols for all those dang Gold Elites.

In 4 though, forget it. I remember playing the last level on Legendary and when i found a Forerunner weapon crate with an Incendiary Cannon i was like ‘Ooh cool’ then when i was fighting watchers and crawlers i dropped it because i needed another weapon. Then at the end, some two minutes later, two Knight Commanders i thought ‘ill want that cannon now’ go back to the previous battle area…EVERYTHING is gone.
