Weapon Customization Mega Thread

This topic is made to have thoughts on customization of weapons, and how it could be integrated into Halo 5/6. This topic could also possibly be used to improve Halo 5 itself for future updates, but is mostly used for Halo in the long run. I have come up with a couple of ideas, and it would be great to here from many of you.

Questions to consider:
Should there be customizable weapons in Halo?
What should we be able to customize?
What could be added to/removed from customization of weapons?
Should there be any other weapons that could be somewhat customized?

Please comment below some ideas on this subject. Please be respectful.

weapon variants for warzone is enough ty

I think it’s perfect the way it is. The only thing I want is to add more old weapons back

Right to start off. Any non-cosmetic customisation remains out of Arena. Full stop. No discussion.

So Warzone.
It would certainty streamline things if you could customise your loadout weapons.
The way id do it is this.

  • All loadout base weapons are unlocked from the start. No need to spend a bajillion points looking for that DMR. - From REQ packs you unlock the attachment, its not a specific attachment for a specific gun. You unlock the suppressor, you have the suppressor for all guns. - As you add attachments the REQ level increases, so you could have a supressed recon DMR with a energy bayonet but it would be a level 9 REQ. It would take some balancing but I think it could work. - You can customise your barrel, side rail, under rail and scope. Basic shooter customization. Obviously sensible customisation, cant have a pistol with a bayonet etc. - The system would have a naming system similar to Fallouts. So if you make a pistol with a suppressor and a 2x scope it’d be named M6H2 SOCOM. You can rename the weapon whatever you want.I mean I’m not sure if its even needed but I guess it could be cool and more customisation is always good.

AS LONG AS IT STAYS THE -Yoink- OUT OF ARENA !

I like this idea, since we already have all of these different scopes and attachments in Warzone. Being able to pick and choose what you want to use on the spot, while affecting the REQ level seems like a good way to take what was a good idea, but actually implement it correctly. It would definitely beat having to scroll through 50 different variations to maybe find what we want.

Plus, this would allow us to use things like Hybrid Scopes with attachments, or attachments like Knight Blade with scopes other than the default for each weapon.

However, that should ONLY be in Warzone, as you say. We should not have anything other than equal starts in every other part of Halo.

I, uh, saw this thread yesterday.

I know. I had to repost because I was hoping people could have many opinions on this topic, and sometimes those forum posts aren’t always seen. But ya know. It was a try.

Absolutely love this, perfect for warzone, and good in arena (custom weapons are there only if there placed originally like the recon DMR on stasis) and for CUSTOM GAMES ONLY personal loadouts because I love covenant kit. For warzone when it comes to unlocking attachments you should have to unlock one for each weapon (no more unlocking the same gun over and over to get a different sight with the same tip)

I think the customization is good enough for what it is right now on the weapons. But I do think it would be neat for players to customize their own weapon attachments for a weapon of their choosing.

Basically how I would like to see it work is a smoother interface. You select the weapon (one of the five loadouts, then select scoped options for it, then attachment options for it) They could have set combos to save time. You would unlock the weapon, the scopes, and the attachments separately.

I like the weapon customization idea from the guy above.

But when I think of weapon customization I think more along the lines of the weapon-pad glitch(or classic modding), just a more honed in. Now imagine having an option, click on an incineration cannon and you see an edit option. A list comes up;

-charge time=the amount of time it takes a weapon to charge and fire
-charge effect=the effect present when a weapon is charging; rail gun, incineration cannon, splaser, fuel rod, etc
-fire effect=editing the explosion at the end of the barrel; think of the fire that comes off of the AR
-fire color=editing the color of said explosion at the end of the barrel; changing the fire of the AR to black and red, blue and white, pink, etc
-ammo count=how much ammo does it have? Can be a one shot sniper or a ten shot rocket launcher.
-time between firing=the delay that happens after firing a weapon, think of the rail-gun vs. the whiplash
-bullet speed=how fast does the shot move, similar to the mythic SPNKR
-bullet type=what fires out the end of the gun? Want an AR with needles or a plasma rifle with fuel rods? Done!
-bullet color=Change the color of the bullets; like fuel rods becoming blue, or incineration cannon becoming red
-bullet effect=the effect the bullet causes, such as increasing shield or shielded damaged, EMP effect, super-combine, voids tear, etc
-bullet damage=the obvious one, how much damage per shot
-bullet count=how many shots per one bullet; scatter shot getting increased to 20 shots, or a BR that fires a triple burst of 6 instead of 3
-weapon skin=what skin does the weapon have, this option will allow us to get skins that are more universal to all weapons
-weapon skin color=change the color of these weapon skins
-powerup=what type of power up is added; Camo, damage boost, over-shield; etc

These customization weapons will be custom games only, and up to the discretion of 343 to permit into matchmaking, similar to the weapon pads. Now some might be thinking that this will never happen because it’ll take away from 343s req system, but what if this was the req system? Every month the community can vote on the top 3 favorite weapons submitted by members of waypoint (marine silver and above with appropriate amount of warzone played), a req level will be placed based on its power, and bam! Req weapons that people know they will love(at least the majority)

This way each monthly update can have less focus on new reqs and more focus on updating forge, this system, and new maps, then let the community have fun with their tools.
Wow this got big, wonder if I should’ve just made my own thread X3

Customizable weapons would be great if we could have custom loadouts for a playlist that compliments the idea. Obviously nothing ranked.

Here’s my ideal loadout screen:

Horizontally, there are options for the weapon, then the sight variant, then the attachment. The row on top corresponds to the primary weapon configuration, and the bottom, the secondary.

That way, we wouldn’t need to worry about scrolling through 20+ weapons to get to the one we want. It would also allow for sight compatability with the new attachments (i.e. Sentinel DMR with Target Marker, Recon SMG with Extended Mags, etc).

It would work, at least, in theory.
