Weapon Customization idea for Halo 5 or 6

Can i get some more replies detailing what could be improved about this idea, or why it just should not be added at all?

A complete weapon customization system for multiplayer and spartan ops. It would be unlocked at level 3 or 4, and all options would be available for the weapons that you have unlocked. I picture it something like this

Barrel-Can be exchanged for previous versions possibly increasing range and accuracy or exchanging them in return for slightly increased stopping power

Scope- ability to add a scope to your weapon(3x max for automatics, 7x max for rifles) to increase range combat abilities

Ammunition- can use heavier ammunition(Armor Piercing) that do more damage to health but not shields, lighter rounds that do more damage to shields, or High-damage rounds(shredder rounds) with a significantly smaller clip. Depending on the ammunition that you choose, it might lower or raise your accuracy

Stock- changeable stocks to increase precision or reduce bloom/spread.

Attachments- nothing OP
primary- silencer, muzzle enhancer, grip, flashlight

Fire mode
Automatics- can be changed to fire in bursts, or toggle fire

Rifles- Can be changed to fire in bursts (which are less damaging as they use the same burst or energy to fire the 2, 3, or 4 bullets.), or Semi-Automatic which is single shot(and does more damage since it uses a burst of energy to fire a heavy bullet.)

There are other possibilities to be explored as well, but this is a rough idea that might turn out amazing as the weapons could be customized to each loadout.

Tell me what you think of this idea

EDIT: while typing this up, the entire section was based on the Assault rifle, i changed it because i didn’t feel like typing an enormous wall of text, so the choices would differ depending on the weapons that you wish to use.

P.S. the shredder ammunition is meant solely for fully automatic weapons in the UNSC arsenal

No, there is no way this could work in halo. It is utterly unbalanced, and your saying I will but a carbine barrel on a BR frame? Doesn’t seem to make much sense.

I don’t mean putting another weapons barrel on a different gun, I meant something along the lines of how there are different variations of weapons and you can change the barrel to the different variant. Like when they showed the concept images for the weapons, or their possible attachments, something along those lines.

Thanks for your input though

Thank you, i don’t mean for this idea to be unbalanced, i literally just came up with this idea as i typed it and i’m trying to balance it as best as possible without completely ruling it out as a possible feature. plus the link was HILARIOUS!!

Also I would like to point something out to everyone.

I’m not opposed to it just because it’s in CoD, or Battlefield, or Ghost Recon, or any other FPS. I don’t like it because I think it would completely fundamentally change Halo forevers. Way more than Custom loadouts do.

PS: I think I won the thread.

NO. please no. Every gun should be the same, with no customization. We don’t need that many variables to combat. One of the best things about gun-play in halo is that ever weapon fills a niche. Another is that any 2 players with the same gun will have the same chance of success, no matter the range they are firing from. You wish to eliminate this.

Each weapon is given its accuracy in accordance with its power and ammo count. By giving, say, a BR More accuracy would make it fill the range capability of the DMR, but much more forgiving. plus, this is kind of a pointless addition as most weapons in the game are hitscan, not real-time bullets.

You wish to put scopes on the automatic weapons. a 3x scope no less. As well, you want to increase the precision weapons to about a 7x zoom. This ruins the already perfect balance of weapons filling their roles. Rifles now fill the spot of the sniper rifle. automatics would now fill the spot of the rifles(with much less accuracy though). Now, the automatic weapons will be outside of their role of a close-mid range starter, and the rifles lose their spot of a mid-range weapon.

This also ruins the weapon balance. In halo, it is set up to where the human weapons do more damage to health, while the plasma weapons can rip through shielding faster. We don’t need any differation in ammo; it would just make encounters much more random and ruin the point of many guns like the carbine.

The bloom and recoil of guns is one of the many things in the game that balance the gun selection. the more powerful/longer range guns get recoil/bloom so they don’t dominate the battlefield. the weaker weapons get less so they stand a better chance. You don’t want somebody running around with an AR that hits every single shot; that kill would be faster than a BR.

Battle encounters don’t need to differ from person to person. the sounds of guns affects nothing gameplay-wise, so this one is pointless. Muzzle flashes are almost non-existent in halo. Weapons have bloom/recoil for balancing purposes, so removing it with grip would make the weapons stronger than intended. And the last thing we need is for players to blind each other in each firefight, effectively crippling your enemies.

Would ruin the point of separate but similar guns. if you could set your AR to burst fire, it would rule mid range. If your DMR could burst, then close range would be much too easy to win. As I’ve said before, every weapon need to fill its unique role in the sandbox, or else it should be removed to make room for other unique weapons.

These things work in games like COD because the effects are mostly aesthetic. the weapons are already inaccurate unless aimed down, and all have a fast enough kill time that more or less damage, accuracy, range etc. barely effects the experience. The weapons are made to all have the same effects, and being equal to each other enough to play together in the sandbox with little differation. But Halo kills take time, precision, the right weapon combo and overall skill in the weapon you use. Each weapon is made to specifically fit a role in the sandbox, sometimes only slightly different, while other times drastically. The kill times are just long enough to where the better player will come out on top most of the time(unlike COD, where its usually the person with the better reaction time). Becuase of this, such customization you are asking fore could never be successful in halo, unless 343 removed the core principles of weaponry that have been a staple of the halo experience since the first game.

Lol xD

> NO!

no, Halo might have takes some changes that seem a little familiar to other games’ elements, but this is taking it too far

this isn’t halo, not even close

NO. Why? Its absolutely unbalanced and lets not get to ahead of ourselves. Let’s deal with Halo 4, enjoy it, then jump to 5. One step at a time.

aren’t we close enough to being cod as it is?

I wouldn’t like anything like that in Halo, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea.

> aren’t we close enough to being cod as it is?

I know. i think Halo is starting to become a futuristic Call of Duty. They should’ve called it “Call of Duty: Combat Evolved”.

I totally agree. Couldn’t have said it better myself. It just wouldn’t be Halo with these kinds of things.

This would wreck the game. There would be absolutely no balance whatsoever. We appreciate the effort you have put into thinking of these ideas and typing them up, but they would not work in a game like Halo.
