Down in the “BONUS!” section, it mentions a special preorder in which you get a “Sentinel Battle Rifle.” On this rifle, the scope is different, and it includes a “laser targeter.” Could there really be weapon customization in Halo 5?

Just for Warzone which I’m fine with. Warzone seems way more casual and laid back just for having fun instead of competitive like Arena.
I’m sold. Customization is the key to my heart.
While it leaves sort of a bad taste in my mouth, if it’s practical applications are only fore Warzone, I find it tolerable. To me Warzone is a whole other experience and identity altering mechanics like this have a bit liberty from me. It would just be very sad day if stuff like that ever touched arena in a non-purely cosmetic way.

That’s an official source Gamestop themselves. That said I’m fine with these being Warzone exclusives.

They confirmed unlocks here (Go to 1:09:00) like armor and weapon skins across all of the multiplayer while Warzone has actual custom weapons (it sounds like, they haven’t actually said it) but the way Gamestop describes the Sentinel Battle Rifle seems like a different variant. But there’s no way 343 would mess with equal starts in Arena so I’m sure that option is only available in Warzone. Also, in Warzone under each weapon and vehicle “buy slot” it says “Battle Rifles” and “Assault Rifles” so it seems like there are different variants.

Have you ever played Battlefield or COD or basically any other shooter? You slap on attachments and they give you actual bonuses to accuracy and crap.
I don’t like it, it’s not needed, even for Warzone. And if you’re like me and plan on going back and forth between Warzone and Arena, I can imagine it being a bit jarring playing with a super Battle Rifle in one and the standard Battle Rifle in the other.

I know it’s function in Battlefield and COD, but I’m wondering why it’s necessary for H5. The BR and other precision weapons are precise enough, as most, if not all, of the shot hit the target.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say these are just cosmetic, as were the skins.
That sounds much more like a general description of the battle rifle itself with purely cosmetic upgrades then any actual functional changes.

Ok…so will the long barrel actually do anything?
This all sounds more like Customization to me. Look at the battle rifle it has a different scope as well as the laser sight. My guess is it just slightly improves spread. The chances are if this is true then you can unlock other variants for Warzone which sounds interesting.
Also Nothing is confirmed 'til the developers confirm it.
