Who misses bloom and who’s happy it’s gone??
i personally loved it as it meant timing your shots instead of just random trigger pulling.
It was another feature that meant you had to learn to play and be good at more than just "point and shoot "!!

its not canon
-
it doesnt promote a healthy skill gap

Halo never had bloom (we try to forget the Reach catastrophe) and doesnt need it

Reach catastrophe??
i personally loved reach, The load outs were a bit annoying and the armour abilities changed the gameplay a lot but I put many hours a day into reach.

Believe me, it wasn’t near a catastrophe as 4 was.
The bloom was a little stupid.
Nooooo Ali!!
Good in theory but the problem was that spammers could beat someone who perfectly timed their shots if RNGesus was looking down upon them. Did not like
Come on… don’t use canon to justify gameplay decisions.
I liked it, but it wasn’t done correctly in Reach. The weapons (in particular the Magnum and DMR) could fire too fast because of it, making them way too spammable in close range. What needed to be done was reducing the max fire rates of those weapons so their bloom would never get ridiculous, but you would still have to take it into account when trying for a headshot at long range and that sort of thing. When 343 took over control of Reach and did the bloom updates, they screwed everything up. They did the opposite approach: they decreased the max bloom instead of max fire rate, making it so they were just as spammable, but even more accurate while spamming.
The inclusion of bloom on precision weapons in Halo 5 is little more than a joke (actually I’m pretty sure it’s exclusively the DMR and Magnum again) when these weapon’s blooms don’t even affect anything at all. The magnum’s and DMR’s reticles just barely jiggle when spamming the trigger. You might as well just not show it.

That’s not necessarily true.

No but done properly it would be.
Bloom was an awful mechanic. It penalized good players who were capable of firing at the max rate while still maintaining high accuracy by making them slow down to avoid the random factor.
I get it in theory, but it practice it was awful, and in my experience the ones who liked it were only the ones who weren’t held back by it. The “timing” of shots wasn’t an added skill to master, it was a handicap for good players.

Hypotheticals are useless.
Please no. If anything, bloom turned every DMR duel into a “spam the fire button” shootout with a random winner.

Yes, believe it or not Reach was a catastrophe. When it came out the forums were flooded with well-justified complaints, mostly about bloom. It doesn’t belong in this game, it belongs in realistic shooters.
I’m not sure how timing your shots could be considered skillful, it was pointless to add that to this game and it actually worsened the skill gap because when people got up close they just spammed the trigger anyways, and bloom caused the shots to be affected by RNG, meaning somebody would get LUCKY and land their shots and win.
I don’t even know what it is but sounds like noone liked it
